Re: Wanted: Solo violin and cello programs with pure tone samples and vibrato only with mod wheel or aftertouch
Another suggestion that occurred to me...
Use a solo cello sound on panel A with no vibrato (such as Solo Cello 1). Use a vibrato cello sound on panel B with vibrato (such as Solo Cello 1 Vibrato). Set up a volume morph with the mod wheel so that panel B starts at zero and comes to full volume, potentially with an inverse morph to reduce panel A back to a lower volume or zero, based on how you want to mix the straight cello sound with the vibrato cello sound.
You would then be using the mod wheel to switch/add vibrato cello sounds and back to the straight sound. I'll experiment the next time I have my NS3 set up to play, though this seems like it could work.

I’m a Electro 6HP player. I was experimenting playing solo trumpet, flute using Trem1 effects (which I use for Rhodes). You can assign control pedal to this effect. It worked well bringing in and out “vibrato” effect using expression pedal. But also crucially could dial speed of tremolo on the fly. I assume you could try similar on 2ex?

Hi, I guess you missed the 2nd part of my description, I was planning to control vibrato via mod wheel or aftertouch. Us old school keyboards were used to paying keyboards (and much lower cost keyboards I might add) with such a program built-in. But, in regards to your suggestion, I am looking for a program that is the reverse of what you are suggesting. I really don't think this would so hard, both for people to understand, or to find!ericL wrote: 20 Apr 2026, 04:05 Another suggestion that occurred to me...

Re: Wanted: Solo violin and cello programs with pure tone samples and vibrato only with mod wheel or aftertouch
Sadly you didn't read the question, I am looking for a solo violin or cello samples *without* vibrato. Then I want to control the applied vibrato from the mode wheel or aftertouch. I am shocked how foriegn what I am requesting seems to be to players!! It used to be standard!! But again, my conclusion so far, this a gap for Nord. I truly believe Roland and Yamaha must still offer those types of programs, as it really essential.HalfSwede wrote: 20 Apr 2026, 09:05 I’m a Electro 6HP player. Wow. Maybe Nord isn’t your product and I’m pretty sure I understood your question. I guess I’m going to waste no further time trying to be helpful. Re: Wanted: Solo violin and cello programs with pure tone samples and vibrato only with mod wheel or aftertouch
Attached is a Nord violin sample that indicates not having vibrato and sounds pretty good. If you listen to the Nord audio example, I think you'll hear a very slight delayed vibrato (or a slight difference that sounds like vibrato if the sample is two violins), but it's worth trying. As Nord pulled many of its string samples from the old Mellotron/Chamberlin library, they have embedded vibrato as it couldn't be added by the keyboards themselves.dan_e_thomas wrote: 17 Apr 2026, 14:16 Hello,
I have a Stage 2EX and I apologize in advance if I am overlooking something, but I am looking for a solo violin and solo cello program where vibrato is controlled from the mod wheel or with aftertouch. All the samples I have found so far either are recorded with vibrato (possibly delayed but still there). I have had other older synths with that type of program, so I feel a bit puzzled why there aren't many available.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a program library for sale with these types of programs, or have one of each to share as a starting point for me?
Thank you in advance!
If you have to resort to sampling, absent finding decent solo samples without vibrato, you could start with the attached sample, record individual notes using Audacity (free), and then:
(a) using Nord Sample Editor (NSE), try looping the sample before any hint of vibrato, OR
(b) stretch the audio file using Audacity (for example taking a 10-second sample and making it a 15-second sample, same pitch) to extend the audio before there's a hint of vibrato, and then loop it using NSE.
Good luck to you.

Hi Johannes, I don't feel I broke any of the forum rules in what I wrote, or how I wrote it, but I will check the rules again. I do appreciate the people replying, but it seems clear they either didn't understand my original question, and took the time to reply to them (which is a form of respect in my view) and explain further.Johannes wrote: 20 Apr 2026, 22:25 23nnxt.jpg

Re: Wanted: Solo violin and cello programs with pure tone samples and vibrato only with mod wheel or aftertouch
I have been a Nord user for over 15 years; I don't know what that has to do with anything to be honest, but first time realizing the program I am asking don't seem to exist, so why I asked the question. Good luck with your programming.ericL wrote: Yesterday, 02:59Wow. Maybe Nord isn’t your product and I’m pretty sure I understood your question. Thank you for response. I will try your sample. I am a little reluctant to reply more than that, given the slap on the hand from the administrator for previous replies. Good luck to you as well.WannitBBBad wrote: Yesterday, 04:20Attached is a Nord violin sample that indicates not having vibrato and sounds pretty good.
