Weighted Key
I am happy owener of Nord Electro 6D.. Now I need piano touch, weighted keybed.
Instead of buying used Nord Piano or other brand with 88 piano touch,
How about the buying MIDI controller like from Studiologic SL88, and use piano sound of NE6D..
What do you think? sounds like good plan? Anything I am missing?
Thanks Chan

Re: Weighted Key
Sure, I've used a weighted controller beneath a Stage for many years, and I can't imagine performing any other way.
The layer/split options on the NE6D will be limited to be sure, but it would be fine for, say, acoustic piano below and B3 on top. You may find yourself adjusting response curves to get the feel you like.
Also, I switched to a 76-key weighted controller years ago. No need for a full 88 at a gig. Big savings on weight and setup, and I never miss the missing keys.

I think I have gear issues ....

Re: Weighted Key
Of course, this is possible. As long as the weighted controller has a DIN-MIDI socket, you can connect it to the NE6 and use it via EXTERNAL KB TO LO (manual p. 19).
I still prefer using a keyboard with basic sound engine as a secondary keyboard - that way, I still have a fallback solution if something on the Nord wouldn't work.

Re: Weighted Key
Many thanks for replies.
I am considering Studiologic SL88MK2 MIDI controller, much cheaper than other option (NP or a keyboard with sound)
I heard the keybed of Nord Piano (or Stage) is from Fatar , And Studiologic SL88MK2 also use the one from Fatar..(TP/400 or TP/40)..
Is Studiologic better than Nord, in piano touch?
Is the Piano sample in NE6D same quality as Nord Piano (or stage)? I think so..but asking just in case.
What about the pedal, it should be connected to Studiologic or NE6D?
Thanks Chan

Re: Weighted Key
SL88MK2 uses Fatar TP110, quite an improvement over the previous TP100 (used on Nord HP models so far) but a step less than TP/40, though more portable (lower overall weight); if you want to get the top Fatar keybed you need to go for SL88 GT MK2 instead, which uses the TP/400 WOOD (but of course it weighs more) see https://www.studiologic-music.com/products/slmk2/specs/with657 wrote: Today, 03:24 Many thanks for replies.

Pedals that will control the section assigned to the SL must be connected to the SL (see examples of MIDI connections on NE6 manual, look at the ExtToLo mode in particular).

Re: Weighted Key
Do you really need 88 keys??? I think most road warriors know what we’re talking about…
