Converting NS2 Synth Samples (nsmp) to NS4 (

Hi,

I have finally switched from a NS2Ex to a NS4, but miss some of the great synth pads from NS2 in the NS4 sample library. Luckily I kept the nsmp-files on my hard drive. But when trying to convert them in the Nord Sound Manager two things happen:
- It sends me from the bank "Synth Pads" to "Unknown" and vice versa.
- Fainally I get the error message "Download Failed. The Files your are trying to download contains a name duplicate name: ..."

The grammar mismatch is no typo of mine, it's the message.
Maybe relevant: I am using the sound manager on a Mac, latest version of it and the NS4 OS (1.64).

Does anybody have a solution how to convert NS2 to NS4 samples?
I am particularly interested in this one: Touch Perco_DX7IIC_BR 2.0.nsmp

Hello and welcome to NUF.

If you want to convert Nord Library Samples, like that .nsmp you mention, those should be automatically converted by Nord Sound Manager to .nsmp4 when you load them to NS4 (but you have to download them using Sample Library tab, not Synth tab)

unfortunately that does not work. Indeed, I can access and download nsmp-files when disconnecting the NS4 and chose Insttument = NS2 in the Sample Library. But when re-connecting the NS4 to my Mac I can't find the download: I browsed through category = All. It must hide somewhere given the "doupicate name" message as described above.
But no worries. Menwhile I have reproduced the sample well enough with the NS4 synth engine.

I am not sure I get what you do, the steps should be:
1) download that nsmp2 sample https://www.nordkeyboards.com/wt/api/ma ... ion/9/516/ and save it to your Mac disk
2) start NSM with NS4 connected
3) select SampLib tab and do a "Download" selecting tht file from the disk (or drag/drop that file from its location on the Mac disk to the SampLib list)

EDIT: reading the NSM release notes, am afraid actually this works only with v3 Library samples and user-created samples.

Now possible to convert samples from the Nord Sample Library 3.0 (.nsmp3) for use in Nord Piano 5 or Nord Stage 4

right after I had postet to give up it worked. It took several attempts always with the same error message "duplicate name". Only after haven renamed the file name more or less completely (not just making it shorter) the conversion worked ant the sample is on the NS4 now.

For upcoming NSM versions I'd suggest to change the file name right away with the "duplicate" prompt.
