Electro 7 synth capabilities

Post by ElectroStrat »

I was hoping to have some information on the new Analog and FM synthesis of the E7 during the NAMM 2026.
Are those synthesis similar as found in the Stage 4 ?
Will there be some improvements (e.g more FM modes) ?

When the Stage 4 was released, it was stated clearly that the synthesis engine was from the Wave 2.
For the organ side, it’s clear that the E7 borrows most of the features of the Organ 3.
But the Analog and FM synthesis of the E7 are quite mysterious.

I haven't heard if the NE7's synth section was directly inspired by a prior or current Nord instrument. It seems pretty interesting. My memory is kind of foggy, though I did own a Nord Stage 1 (and the EX version) back in the day, which was before it was possible to load .nsmp sample files, which was a big step forward in the NS2. The NE7 synth demos I've heard sort of remind me of the NS1 synth's engine. Pretty basic, though capable of some pretty good sounds. Here's a video that showcases some of the synth presets. Some remind me of an earlier Korg like the DS-8 or even Poly 61, with a bit of Yamaha DX something, not quite as complex as DX7, maybe the DX21 or similar. Sort of a basic analog character like a single oscillator model with some FM textures.

Seems like this person was crafty with recording some demos directly off of the NAMM floor. If you click into their YouTube channel they have demos for all of the NE7 banks. Google found these first for me.

Thanks.
I’ve watched previously the first videos on the banks A, B and C and stopped there.
But the bank F has more synth sounds.
I hope that most of them are synthesis and not samples.
This would save some precious sample memory on the E7 for non synth sounds.

We have to wait for the upcoming E7 user manual or some in depth videos on the new synthesis features.

Thanks.
So, the FM synthesis is a subset of the Stage 4 (4 modes / configurations of operators out of 5).

Are you familiar with the NS4 FM capabilities? I am looking for any walkthrough on youtube (at least sound examples) but nobody seems to be expert in this.

Not really. I’ve just taken a look at the Stage 4 User Manual : 5 FM configurations (2op, 3 x 3op, 4op).
Based on the video, the E7 has 4 FM configurations (2op, 2 X 3op, 4op).
I haven’t found either any video on the NS4 FM capabilities.
