The Wurly and the D6 I wonder, are these instruments to "simple" to make "better" samples?

Same with the older pianos. Do we just don't like the original pianos or is it the sampling that got better with the newer ones?

The biggest differences between the older and newer samples would be:

1. More notes are sampled. While none of the pianos have every single semitone sampled (Nord is a bit cryptic about this but it is easy enough to confirm,) the newer samples generally have many more notes represented. So there is a lot less stretching. On some of the older pianos, they may only sample every 3rd or 4th note (sometimes even more of a distance.) On a real piano, rhodes, etc every note has its own character. The more notes sampled, the more authentic of an experience.

2. Velocity layers. The newer samples, again, have more dynamic layers from very soft to very loud so the transitions are much smoother.

In most cases, the older pianos were probably not sampled any deeper than what we get, so it's not so simple to just update them. They'd need to be re-recorded again.

Can you split the Organ Lower and Upper Manuel like on the NE5? Or does it only split with bass pedals?

also can you do 3 Splits in general or is it only 2?

The Electro 7 still has an "Auxilliary Keyboard" button which I'm pretty confident still allows you to connect for a lower manual.

I also doubt 3 splits are going to happen. I can't recall if Nord ever featured 2 independent splits points per layer on any instrument. Finally, unlike the Organ 3, the Electro does not support a lower manual AND bass pedals at the same time.

That's a great point, but it's from the perspective of a seasoned Nord user. We tend to forget that Nord doesn't release new keyboards just for us, but like any company would dearly like to rope in ever newer buyers (and steal some from their competitors).

Newbies have no idea about Sound Manager and piano replacement when they first walk up to the board. They might have heard about it, but actually getting into the weeds with it takes some time and practice, as we all know. Sound Manager is a pretty decent piece of software but like anything else, you've got to learn it and experiment with it. And there are still many potential buyers out there who don't want to deal with hooking up computers at all, ever.

Telling potential new buyers "oh, you can just swap out that lead piano and everything else that's factory loaded with software and online downloads" isn't the best marketing line, in my view. Many people want to believe that their expensive new digital keyboard is "ready to go" right out of the box, and that customizations or replacements of its baseline sound set comes much later, if at all.

So given that, yes, the Astoria Grand IS being presented as the newest and greatest Grand on their newest and greatest Electro. That's my hangup!

The Nord Electro 7 - 61 with pitch and mod wheels would be possible !

If the panel is shifted slightly to the right and a new layout is created, there would still be room for pitch and mod wheels on the NE 7 in the 61-key version.
