Is my Nord rack 2X totally out of order ?

Post by kevofromspace »

Hi everyone !

firs of all, sorry for my english, I come from belgium (I speak french), and I'm asking for help here because there is almost no support in french forums.

Since I got this synth, I have to face some issues. I ask you if someone have any of my nord lead's problems. But I guess it's not normal.

- first problem I noticed, when I play 2 slots together (A and B for example) and that I change a parameter in one slot (cut-off), the parameter changes in the other slot too. So I can't edit sounds separately, even if I use 2 separate midi channels.

- second one, I tried many times to asign the audio outputs but it does not work. For example, i use the option '4 ab' (to send sound of the slot A to output A and the slot B to output B). Nothing changes, my jack is connected to Out A, and I hear the sound of the the slot A and B together...
By the way, I have a question about the outputs. Are they mono or stereo ? (I know the A is mono, but what about the other ones ?)

- third one, the sounds is unstable for many patches with a lot of sustain. As it is difficult to explain, I made a sample of that. I used 2 different patches. For both, I play with the same velocity and with the sustain pedal in poly mode.

As you can hear, something happens with the filter. The result is more perceptible in stereo mode (you don't hear the filter only in the left side after a while). I can't register in stereo for now, sorry.

I bought my NR second hand, so there is no guarantee... I'm adraid I should bring it back to a Clavia reseller..

That's it. I hope I've been clear... I would like to know what you think about that !

:thanks:

Try [Shift+2xProg.CTRL] and scroll to C.of

Don't use UNISON!

Sounds more as losing voices than a Filter to me... Sure you are not in ECHO mode - see Arp mode. Do you have the Manual?

Thank you for the manual, but I got it :) difficult to know what knob is concerned and so what page to read...

I tried Shift + prof ctrl and it works, first problem solved !
But for the others, unfortunately your solutions don't work... The unison is disabled and the arpeggio too.

kevoifromspace, how is your Flemish (Vlaams)? Me, being Dutch it could be an option in the communication...

Surely I hear the changing in the panning.
There is another device working delivering the Midi sequence. What device is it?
Any possibility this changes something by Midi CC?
The panning isn't suddenly, but gently, like a cross over...

I use Ableton Live to send midi. But I tried with a direct connection from my keyboard to the NR, nothing changes.

The panning is sometimes suddenly, it's very unstable. I don't think it's a CC control problem :/

In that 'panning' it shifts sowly. When an Output fails it is 'bang': at once.
And there is still some sound left over!
Looks like a Gain is turned down...
