Recording high frequency hiss - Grand Imperial

Post by musicroom »

I have recently been recording the Nord Piano 2 direct to my iMac, using a little reverb and some high EQ + 3/4 and I've noticed particularly on the quieter strikes of key a high frequency hiss that varies with each note or sample range.

I thought this might be down to my audio interface to start with, but I have plugged the channels straight into a desk on flat EQ and get the same result. I was trying to achieve more clarity from the sample piano as I felt when recording it lacked presence in the softer range - (naturally the more you hammer the piano the higher signal to noise you get and more swell through the reverb unit) however - has anyone else found similar issues when recording the softer arrangement?
