Again, you get what you pay for, pallie. You can't buy a Maserati for 30K. If you think you are going to find a Nord without a lot of problems for $800, we can't help you.

Are these stolen a lot? I'd take one for $800 meaning used on Ebay.
Try to search "Nord Stage 4" on Aliexpress, you may be even more surprised :D (then: do you believe in miracles...? I don't, at least not when talking about keyboards prices....) 8-)

So when playing most of the NS4 patches do you noticed like it seems in my studio, most of the voices are centered in the middle of the channel?

Like if I'm between the speakers there's not much L/R action it seems always centered. No spread or small sound stage might be intentionally designed this way. It's not my system because all my other boards sound wide like in stereo.

On stage rarely I would think will they hook up and L/R channel so it's more of a true mono like a real piano. Anyone notice this? or is mine still broken? Occasionally a synth voice will spread it wide again but 90% feel centered.

Also is it my imagination that all the presets are pretty poor?

Ok, you're just trolling now. And just as only Nixon could go to China, so do I as lead Nord critic on this board have the credentials to say it.

Bye.

I'm quite a happy Nord owner. Some others are, too. For different reasons. To me, the best attribute to the Nord Stage (3) sound is 'inspiring'. But not everybody can be happy with the same things.

Luckily, you can easily create your own sounds on a Nord Stage. If a shimmering L-R fireworks is what you are after, you'll be able to get close to it. Maybe, you'll want to add an external effect, though. There's quite a field of sounds to be explored if you start using knobs, faders and buttons. Default sounds are nothing but stimulations for your own creativity.

I think that over 40 years of not trying a Nord but seeing certain people brag on them and the price was always way up there, that in my mind I created a very unrealistic expectation.

I thought this thing was going to blow me away but then I have many top shelf pieces of gear already so I think my expectation was unrealistic. It still had great features and all but yeah it's $6,000 it better.

Now mine was modified by someone else, all that was very true but at the "low" price I knew that if I wasn't allowed to return it without cause I'd gladly sell it myself hopefully get all my money back. I've sold many over the years so that nothing for me, I have a store.

It just worked out that it had those mod issues and in the end they said they would only refund me and not ship out a replacement. Not sure why the change of heart but that's fine with me. I didn't really like the Nord folks the salesman was very condesending whie also admitting he knows nothing about the synths he sells and the US rep was arrogant and very disigenuous.

I mean on the phone he seemed concerned but every time I requested a very fair resloution he was unable to do anything which I never believed for one second. If Moog can hand me a brand new Muse board for free I'm pretty certain these guys are totally full of crap. Nord policy must be under no circumstonaces do you help anyone. I don't really like that attitude but when people keep paying for $6,000 Nords the company can do pretty much anything offensive they decide.

Separate from these (2) individuals the board was nice but my expectation was way beyond orat least matching the price tag. To others it might be well worth it as some said you might lose the job if you aren't bringing a Nord. That still sounds like some kick-backs are going on under the table to me.

In contrast and to be clear I also bought my first Ketron I didn't even know who they were. I have no affiliation with Ketron. AJ at AjamSonic is the man for the US he's personally texted and called me some 30 times at all hours since I bought the Event and he listens to everything I suggest and also implements some of it into the updates. I wonder why, couldn't it be because Nord has a big head and Ketron is a little guy trying to reach anyone. That feels nice and personal and he's a kind person. Maybe Nord should hire him but the bigger goliath gets and less they care about the little people.

Yamaha and Korg are the same, too big to care but then they do still occomodate eventually. If you reach out to Ketron or Groovesynthesis or Black Corp or Arturia or Expressive E etc. it's very close and personal and everyone is important. Nord was just bad.

Step into that shoe for a moment you tell your guy something isn't working and he tells you it's complex, go read and watch videos I'm like dude it's a modulation wheel and the preset says "USE THE WHEEL" but nothing happens. Would you respect that guy? Then you spend personal hours (probably half a day or more) to figure out what's wrong and you fix it and they blame you for it and won't even ship you a foot pedal for all your probems. WTF! Yamaha gives away foot pedals and that would have cost Nord $35. The company is insane.

The salemans wanted me to sign or admit "I modified the gear" and both of them were in on the email I have it here. I asked him if your lamp becomes unplugged and you plug it back into the wall, did you modifiy your lamp? If a screw falls out of the shelf on your wall and you screw it back in did you modify your shelf? They were literally insane and treating a customer this way. Nord should be embarrasded.

Me personally will never buy a Nord because of people like this. Anyone know if corrporate Nord reads these threads? Else no one will ever know and nothing will ever change. It's great if you never had an issue and you love them carry on...

«Anyone know if corrporate Nord reads these threads?«

Probably they check in from time to time but they are not that insane they will involve directlynin a case like this. Dealers are their buffer against customers buying without knowledge or experience of what they are ordering. Why did you not just return it after finding everything mediocre?

As I mentioned in one of my first replies to that thread I fully understand your frustration, but I wonder if you have ever read the replies on that thread conciusly since you still keep talking about "Nord", no matter if you mean someone from the dealer, some independent tech company or someone from the official Nord service center.

As explained a couple of times there is no Nord employee outside of Sweden, they have one distributor per country wich acts as the Nord representative, for the U.S. this is American Music & Sound in Newbury Park, California. This is also the support contact for customers in the U.S. if anything goes wrong with a Nord instrument, as also written on the Nord webpage: Nord Support

I still did not understand whom you contacted for support, have you been in direct touch with America Music & Sound or which company was the one in touch with you after the dealer himself could not help - can you please tell us which companies had been involved in trying to solve the issue?

Only if it was someone from America Music & Sound directly you have a point in blaming Nors, even though indirectly since it's not them but their representative. In such case you may send your complaints to Nord in Sweden to make them aware and they have a chance to improve processes at American Music & Sound.

If not please don't talk about Nord when talking about bad behaviour or anything like this by some of the guys you were in touch with, this is misleading.

I understand but AM&S is the Nord representative for America who is Nord because they have chosen him to represent them. So in a circular way it's still Nord. He does as Nord tells him to do exactly so if he sucks so does Nord that's just how it works. He's the Nord spokes person or bot or public relations I assume. I questioned him whether there was a commitee or group he answers to I think he said it's only him. So he's the "Nord God" of North America.

I did fill out a form and said I was located in Sweden but I never heard back. When I filled it out the first time stating in America it simply went right back to AM&S. So there's really no way to reach the real Nord people. They probably don't care anyway but I won't be buying another one so I guess I don't have any reason to remain on this forum. The Yamaha Musician forum talks abuot brands so it's not limited to one brand or even Yamaha. Maybe they do here I haven't really looked.
