What is the 'best' way to save & recall programs for live gigs? E6D
Hi everyone
I VERY recently upgraded my E4 73SW for an E6D 73SW and managed to organize the programs I use so that they were accessible by using Numeric Pad mode navigation. I played 2 gigs and, apart from the occasional mishit when selecting sounds, it went OK. It does require 2 button presses though
(11-14, 21-24, 31-33, 41-44) and only provides 16 options.
What method is best for dialing up 4 sounds for a song, and having those sounds *1 button press away from each other?
I don't mind replication of references to sounds, eg I might use the same ac piano on many songs.
Thanks for responses to what will appear to be a newbie question! (it is, in a way)

Re: What is the 'best' way to save & recall programs for live gigs? E6D
With the E4, between songs I'm used to scrolling up to a bank within which I've stored up to 4 programs (edited sounds) relevant to the next song we're about to play.
Each program is just one button press away. Over time I've just learned which bank goes with which song. No text labels required.
I think I should stick with that convention with the E6... use the page buttons to scroll to a bank (song) and the 4 program buttons to select sounds within a song. If only banks could be renamed -> song title. That would be one improvement over the E4 convention.
I'm experimenting with adding part of the song title with a hint at the instrument in the first program name
eg P:21 = CantAlwaysGetChoir P:22 = French Horn P:23 = piano P:24 = organ
Blank User slots P->Z give me 11 x 4 songs before I'd need to over-write any others.
Approve? Suggest better?

That's the best way to go, unless you want to add a computer/tablet/smartphone running a SetList management app on to your setup; about bank naming, if you name the Programs in each bank based on the song they are used for, don't you get the same result?

Thanks for the confirmation maxpiano. I'll do it this way for a while and see how it goes. The only reason I'm sticking with banks of up to 4 sounds per song is because it's possible to reorder a set list by swapping or moving whole banks. Lets see how long it is before I get tired of rearranging song orders! Eventually with repetition I might learn where songs are and be able to speed dial to them.
And if units of 4 programs are staying together, only the first one realy needs a song title. Yes it is much the same as if it was possible to name a bank. But already I want a bigger screen with space for more characters!

Then you should really consider using an app like Setlist Maker or the likes on your smartphone/tablet (to be connected to the NE6 via USB MIDI), that's the ultimate solution to easily manage Setlists and related program changesjon54 wrote: 29 Oct 2025, 13:12 Thanks for the confirmation maxpiano. What kind of applications? I have an iPad - what options are there for it? I’m really not in the know and this is the first time I’ve heard about this. oh, my friend, I looked - these are similar applications, something like a songbook. I don’t quite understand how to switch, there is too much information on the display - in concert mode it’s very inconvenient, I prefer physical buttons. But a simple application with a list of songs would not hurt me; by selecting a song from the list, you load a bank of programs prepared in advance, which can be located in different parts of the memory. This is probably not real))) but it would be cool. Give us back Song Mode!maxpiano wrote: 29 Oct 2025, 09:05 That's the best way to go, unless you want to add a computer/tablet/smartphone running a SetList management app on to your setup; about bank naming, if you name the Programs in each bank based on the song they are used for, don't you get the same result?

Take a look at Set List Maker http://www.setlistmaker.com (or Camelot Pro if you want more, much more, but may bee too much if you just need to switch some programs)EdwardGlekov wrote: 30 Nov 2025, 20:09oh, my friend, I looked - these are similar applications, something like a songbook.
