I bought a 6 pin Nord ribbon cable from Syntaur thinking it would fit and so removed the broken cable from both sides. However, the new cable has IDC connections on both sides so fits in the mainboard slot but not on the keybed PCB. Getting an exact replacement for the broken cable would be ideal. But If I can find the exact connector that was used on the keybed side I could ask an electronics shop to modify the Syntaur cable (which is long enough to remove one connector and still work in my Nord). I've not had any luck in finding what this connector could be though.

Apologies for the bad photo quality - I can take better ones if it would help with identification!
Well the repair shop could even just solder the ribbon wires (they are a small number) directly on the "small PCB" terminals (without a connector) eventually, minding to keep the right wiring of course.

Hi,

I uploaded these two photos to ChatGPT and asked for the type of connector and where to get it from, here is the reply:

——————————————————————————————————————————————————

The connector shown in your pictures is a 2-row IDC (Insulation Displacement Connector) ribbon cable connector, often used in old keyboards, printers, and other electronic equipment to connect a flat ribbon cable to a PCB header.

Key Identifiers:
• IDC style: The ribbon cable wires slot directly into the connector without soldering.
• 2-row arrangement: Your connector appears to be a 2×7 or 2×8 pin type (14–16 pins total).
• Polarizing key: The plastic notch on one side prevents it from being plugged in backward.
• Pitch: Likely 2.54 mm (0.1”), the standard for IDC connectors used with ribbon cables.

Where to Buy:

You can purchase replacements from major electronics suppliers:
• Digi-Key
• Mouser Electronics
• RS Components
• Newark / Element14
• Amazon or eBay (search for “2x7 IDC ribbon cable connector 2.54mm”)

Look for keywords like:
• IDC ribbon cable connector
• 2x7 IDC socket or 2x8 IDC socket
• 2.54mm pitch

⚠️ Before ordering, I recommend counting the exact number of pins (rows × columns) on your connector to ensure you get the right size.

Hope it helps!
