Nord Stage 3 Rhodes Amp Sim
Hi everyone,
While there is a lot of incredible content in this forum, I was never able to find much information or details on how many of youse use the Amp Sims with a Rhodes EP.
Would love to hear your own experiences and use cases for using Amp Sims.
I am currently using the Small, JC, together with some EQ with my Stockholm sound. I feel like it cuts better through the mix and brings in a natural compression of the amp.
Cheers!

Re: Nord Stage 3 Rhodes Amp Sim
Hi M,
I can relate to this. The Nord Rhodes pianos are very good, but I've been trying to get a brighter sound too. Here's an example of a brighter sound that I really like:
This is the Keyscape Custom LA Rhodes EP with a chorus effect. I like the bright tang-y attack that you get when you hit the key fairly hard. This is a really nice sounding Rhodes in my opinion. I wish I could duplicate on my Stage 4.
You are correct that the JC amp sim brightens up the tone of the Stockholm EP (my favorite too), but it also thins out the tone a little too much (IMO).
So I do use EQ to brighten up the Stockholm, but I'm not entirely satisfied with it.
Anybody else have thoughts/suggestions about this?

Re: Nord Stage 3 Rhodes Amp Sim
Use the standard AmpSim and add a little amount of Drive, besides the Treble and Mid-Hi boosting EQ + Compression
Re: Nord Stage 3 Rhodes Amp Sim
To get this sound, I would honestly rather use the Bright Tines sample (EP5). Add Bright Filter and you're done. Or maybe the JC amp sim in the second version, or, if you want an even brighter sound, one of the Dyno filters.

Re: Nord Stage 3 Rhodes Amp Sim
I had forgotten about the "Timbre" section settings! Bright or Dyno1 do give a nice boost to the tine attack. The JC sim (variation or not) is still too brittle for my taste, but it will certainly help you cut through in a live setting.
Let us know what you settle on.

Re: Nord Stage 3 Rhodes Amp Sim
I now started using the Twin amp sim, with the mid EQ on and it sounds way nicer (still with the Stockholm EP).
Recently had a gig in a reverb-y. boom-y, hall and the piano really cut through (maybe even too much) which led me to cut some treble.
