Stage 3 Piano Model Knob Replacement Part

Post by luthye »

The knob for the piano model needs replaced. The D post broke flush with the case surface. I called the folks and Syntaur to make sure I was ordering the correct replacement part and was told to get "Encoder" part 5004. I had a technician install it, but it doesn't change the sounds. Is this actually the part I should have gotten?

Syntaur's phones are down today as they're upgrading their system.

Pictured is the replaced knob with a whole but non-functional D post.

Hm... The #5004 is the only Encoder on the list and all other turnable knobs are potentionmeters... So in absence of a service manual I would say, if you open your Nord and check for a familiar design / 3 feet at the Piano encoder, this should fit...

here are the actual Nord part numbers. Looks like it's the correct part. If its not working, then more than likely something didn't get re-assembled correctly by your tech (its extremely unlikely to be a completely failed component).

If anyone finds a cross reference between these Nord-internal part numbers and the actual manufacturers' part numbers please post it.
