A1: Behaviour of keyboard octave shift

I have a Lead A1. After an acciddental touch with some fluid, i realized the following behaviour, and im not sure if its normal:

The “Keyboard Octave Shift” mode only has an effect as long as it is active. If I transpose the keyboard up by, say, 1 octave and then switch to normal octave shift mode, the audible keyboard octave jumps back to 0 (also via the midi output). When I enter the keyboard octave shift mode again, the octave is transposed up by 1 again. Is this normal?

I no longer have my A1 to verify, but I believe "Keyboard Octave Shift" is a _mode_ which you are either in or not. If you leave that mode, the effect no longer applies. It is not a "behind the scenes" setting, it's a mode which you switch into or out of. So yes, I would expect the behaviour you're describing as normal. It is consistent with the manual (page 18).

Thanks for the answer. I would actually think that the word “mode” implies exactly what you say. On the other hand, the “Octave Shift” mode is exactly the opposite - the A1 does NOT forget the transpositions of the individual slots when you leave THIS mode. It makes absolutely no sense from the player's point of view if a transposition is forgotten just because you leave the corresponding menu. As far as the manual is concerned, this is not clear from it. And I'm actually very sure that this behavior was different before the damage. Is there perhaps someone here who can test this behavior - and if so, perhaps also whether it behaves differently in “performance mode”? I would be very grateful, as the instrument is currently in the workshop and I need to tell them whether they need to keep looking for a fault or not.

Octave shift allows you to transpose individual slots and absolutely would remain as you move from slot to slot, otherwise you would only be able to octave shift a single slot.

Keyboard octave shift, transposes the entire keyboard and specifically takes over the LEDs (inverting them so you know that you are in keyboard octave shift mode and what that shift amount is. By design those two modes cannot co-exist. You are either shifting everything or your shifting individual slots, but not both at the same time.

So Keyboard Octave shift is either on or off and can be store in a performance.

I'm not understanding what you mean by "leave the corresponding menu".

If you change performances "Keyboard Octave Shift" will change to what ever state is programmed for that performance (by default that will be off).
