Old thread I know, but if you want the Elton live piano sound you need to go midi. Either search for hardware or software. Hardware wise you need the original yamaha motif with the power grand piano sound. The original one had it included, later motif es had it removed and you had to buy an addon card. Then you need the Roland mks-20 rack unit. These mixed together and some eq will give you the sound.
However, they are expensive and hard to find, and can suffer failure because of their age, especialy the mks-20.
Software vst wise, safer and cheaper. There are multiple ways. If you use Kontakt there is one plugin that has not only the mks-20 sounds, but they have also included the motif power grand. It sounds pretty much 90 percent like Eltons piano. There are also other motif plugins and Keyscape also have an mks-20. I use various software like this to get the Elton sound and to my ears sounds great. Also very expressive.
Which ever you go for, you need the motif power grand and the mks piano 1 setting.

Re: Elton John Piano Sound?
Or instead of using external instruments, tweak one Acoustic Piano to your lining and layer it with the MKS samples from the Gospel collection (which was at some point a hidden download from the Nord library)
