Pedal Noise is Gone!

Post by aureliopenna »

I received this message when I connect my Nord Stage 3 Compact to Sound Manager 9.14
"Warning: This partition does not contain any files. Please download appropriate content from www.nordkeyboards.com and download it to your Nord. This is shown on Piano pedal Partition.

There is no "Piano Pedal partition"... what OS version do you have on your NS3?

On Nord Manager 9.14 there is a new partition called Piano Pedal. I can even format it if I wanna to.
My firmware is the 2.64.

Wow! I hadn't noticed that change in 9.14 :o have you tried to re-download to your NS3 the Piano partition samples, to see if that fixes (loads) also the Piano pedals? Or if you download the whole Nord Sound Library, activate it while you are on that Piano Pedal partition and try to see if it has any valid "Piano Pedal" sample ?

I don't understand how that works: pedal noise seeming to be independent from the piano samples themselves. Sounds like something fundamental in piano sample handling might have changed.

So, besides what you, @maxpiano, suggest: It might be necessary to make sure to be on the newest OS as well.
No, wait. You are already on the newest firmware!

Hey!

I also had a problem in my Nord Stage 2 compact a year ago, where for some reason the pedal noise stopped working in my keyboard. I contacted Nord (Clavia) and they sent me a file for pedal noise. I am not sure if I am allowed to share it, so I will just send it privately to OP (If anyone else needs it, send me a pm). You should be able to drag the file into your Nord Sound manager. It worked for me back then, but that was an older version of the Nord Sound Manager, so i can not guarantee that it will work. But I wish you the best of luck :keyboard:

Best regards.

Well, I think we've discovered how Nord does pedal noise -- they use a separate sample layer. It looks like they tried to keep it hidden for simplicity's sake, which makes sense -- but eventually someone will blow away their secret file and need a new one.
I think I have gear issues ....

Curious if you can select between different pedal models - looks like that on the screenshot from the Piano Pedal bank.
