Programming functions on keys ?
Hello
I will soon have an NS3. I hope next week.
Is it possible to associate on a part of the keyboard certain notes with a chord or a musical sequence?
For example if I press the lowest C, it plays me for example a Cm7 chord or any chord that I have programmed.
Or if I press another key, it makes me a very fast descent in arpeggios.
I was thinking maybe with Nord Sample Editor that I have never used yet... ?
Thanks
Will

Re: Programming functions on keys ?
Hi it is possible, but I’d say it’s not the intended use of an Nord Stage.
If you f.ex. Tune the two synth-layers different by a minor third, playing C and Eb together gives you an C-minor. D and F becomes a D-minor ans so on. You can also the sample editor building different harmonics. But all of these solutions demands much effort, and a minimum of versatility.
It’s just not the intended use of the Nord Stage

Not the usage of the Stage for sure.
There are workarounds (with the Synth engine and 2 panels) or some sampling to specific keys, but clearly not what the Stage is aimed for !

Re: Programming functions on keys ?
Hello, and welcome to the Forum! As noted, it will take work, however with Nord Sample Editor 4 you can put together anything you want to play on a designated key. You don't need the NS3 to start working with NSE4 if you already have a keyboard available to sample the chords you are interested in, however you'll need the NS3 to play what you've created. On a song by Whitney Houston, I set up the sample so I could play synth bass with the left hand and at the upper end of the keyboard have the each key cover a synthbell note with chords behind it. You can listen to it at the link below. Good luck to you!

If you really need this function the more proper way is to send your Midi data to en external device (Midi harmonizer) and feed it back into Midi In. On the NS4 I've done something similar to be able to play a brass section one handed.

Re: Programming functions on keys ?
Hi, First post here I think.
What I do on a NS4 when i want this is to create the sound (no fx), then sample the chord.
Load it in as a user sample, apply fx etc..
Kind of wish the nord had internal sampling capability, but the sample manager is a nice utility.
Cheers
