new user where to find sounds?
new user where to find sounds?
So I am new to Nord an just bought my stage 4 coming from Kurzweil
I went to the Nord site and most of the sounds are already loaded into the stage 4, doesn't seem like the sound libraries in the Nord sight are extensive?
I started up Nord sound manager and there seems like there 11mb piano free, 33mb free sample library , Wow they don't give you any free space?
Any recommendations for a newbie about where to get new sounds and how to create memory?

Re: new user where to find sounds?
Welcome! I'm happy to send you lot and lots of samples that I have created or obtained from other sources. Nord has done a great job of giving us a lot of samples in the board itself, but as you have noted, to add any of your own, you will need to delete what it comes with - some of it that is. It takes a while to get your head around this approach as Kurzweil, Yamaha, Roland, Korg, etc... don't work this way.
Let me start with this. What kind of sounds are you looking for, and what is your particular playing context? For example, in my case, I'm a Church Tech Director, and also play in blues and rock contexts, but most of my sounds, are geared towards worship band contexts.
Reach out directly if you like. Happy to help.

Welcome to the world of Nord! I’m new here myself, coming from Yamaha. I now wish I had gotten here sooner. You’ve come at a great time with the Stage 4. The sonic possibilities are endless.echo44 wrote:So I am new to Nord an just bought my stage 4 coming from Kurzweil

One way you can get new sounds is to sample them yourself, either from a recording or the actual instrument itself. You can connect any modern A/D interface into the Sample editor application that Nord has provided for Mac or PC. Have a great sound from your Yamaha or other keyboard? No problem, just re-sample it directly into your Stage 4.

Re: new user where to find sounds?
The first place to look is of course, the Nord site, which has a LOT of instruments you can load into your NS, such as pianos, electric pianos, brass and strings, etc. Of course, you do need to clear up some space first. (Use the Nord Sound Manger; first delete programs you don't want, and then delete instruments you don't want -- ideally ones that aren't used by any programs. Yeah, it's time consuming -- but of course you can always reload them or factory-reset your instrument.)
The second place to look is here: https://nordusersounds.com/
This should be on the norduserforum Links page, and/or a sticky in several of the sub-forums. Why it's not easier to find is a complete mystery to me.

Thanks, I will have to go through the sounds to see which ones to delete

Not to resurrect a very old post, but nobody answered this last question. You'll definitely want to use Nord Sample Editor to capture or import samples. It makes it very easy to add unique new sounds or samples of other instruments.
