This must have been a misundertanding. I never intended to suggest to buy those red monitors. They seem to be OK, but pricey. No, I just mentioned them as a reference for the size you may want to look for. There are multiple brands for near field (studio) monitors like the Nord Monitors are. They should all do the job if you want them just for yourself. Like the Presonus Eris E5 or the Yamaha HS5 - I just never heard them.

Once again thanks! i didn’t realize that hs5 were a good option for me. i will be listening to them tomorrow at a music store but probably will be getting those. They have a 5” woofer which is pretty good and the overall size is not bad. Will keep you posted

No idea about US prizes, but there is one point I'd like to comment on after testing a few near field monitors: Nord Monitors are about 600 EUR (per pair!), Yamaha HS5 are 175 EUR (per piece - 350 EUR per pair), iLoud MTM mkII are 1000 EUR (per pair). So I'd like to retract my sentence calling Nord Monitors pricey. They are certainly not cheap nor entry level: To me, they sounded better than the HS5; and the iLouds were even fuller in sound.

And you didn't mention or try any Genelec (just to go up on the price ladder)? :D

No Neumann either. Even didn't want to hear them - enough is enough. The iLouds were really convincing... But as the Nord monitors were already nice, I didn't see a need to go up the ladder.

Has anyone ever compared the iLoud Micros to the MTMs? I have a pair of micros, also have a pair of Jbl 305s which are excellent and paired up with a Presonus sub. The iLoud Micro really punch hard against a 5" monitor albeit they chuff when there's strong bass and are maybe slightly more boxy. Given the MTMs are larger and have improved DSP, then I'm sure they must be a great option.
