If I remember well, the difference is that in .nsmp3 you can incorporate some suggested parameters for Filter and Envelope also for Nord Stage (and not just Nord Electros, as in the original .nsmp) and v3 should manage sample Categories which original .nsmp didn't (always iirc)
Correct, but his question, as far as I understood it, was if there is a difference in the .nsmp3 sample when creating a .nsmp3 sample from NSE directly compared to having it created as .nsmp in NSE and then convert this into .nsmp3 using NSM
Ah OK! Good point., Well in that respect, unless they changed something in the compression algorithm between the various .nsmp versions, it should be the same.

@WannitBBBad : do you remember, what was (roughly) the size difference you observed? Just few bytes or a relevant %?

It was not a relevant size difference, I just assumed that in loading the NSMP3 sample to the NS3 that the sample would not be altered when uploading back to the laptop.

OK, so probably the size difference is just related to the additional info that was added in v3

Thanks all for your comments. As I've questioned whether the problem has to do with an error with earlier versions of Nord Sample Editor I've used, I've gone so far as to use the latest version of Nord Sample Editor to create a test ".nsmp" file and with the help of Forum members confirmed that NSM won't convert it to NSMP4 format. For over a year we've fielded questions from NS4 owners unable to convert NSMP files using NSM with Nord stating they can. I just can't believe Nord would ignore the problem this long. Thanks

Maybe non relevant, but how about converting nsmp to nsmp3 using the old Nord Sample Converter (if possible) and then convert 3 to 4 in NSM ?

And what about sharing the .nwiproj file+samples (maybe zipped) and everybody can compile in the format they want/need? Is that file format unchanged?

I'll check, but haven't ever had a problem loading old ones created with NSE3. To be honest, I've posted the old conversion tool and for over a year we have fielded questions from new NS4 and Piano 5 owners, I'm ready for Nord to step up and fix their application.
