>They actually can, and they should.<

i agree that they can, but I don't agree that they should. Nord needs to stay modern as much as any other company. Keeping 20-year old files available is not the most dynamic look for a music technology company. And let's be honest - not a whole lot of people are going to miss those departed samples. if you really loved them, you'd have them on your board already.

> they need to tell customers BEFORE they remove anything from their software/sample libraries.<

Since when has Nord announced anything in advance to their customer base? This is not a company that seeks user feedback or shares its plans. There are no sneak peaks or coming soons with Clavia. Besides, if they make that kind of announcement they will get slammed with complaints and bad press. This way just a few old-timers complain on their "unofficial" forum.

I am surprised to see how some people defend things that are harmful to Nord users. They look like lawyers from Nord..
For example, I bought my "Electro 6" a month ago. I couldn't download those libraries...

And "harmful" is a strong word to use for not being able to download some ancient sample of some ancient zither. There are plenty of samples on the Nord site for you to download, try once, and never use again. Plenty are also already loaded on your Electro 6, way down there in the 100s and 200s, that you'll never use either.

Fondly, Gambold *

One thing I don't like about the new Nord site is there is no longer a way to see a full list of the factory sounds for each instrument. Used to be that you could see what pianos and samples were loaded. I used that feature to chart the rise and fall of various piano samples over the years.

Now one has to download the actual factory restore file, expand it out of ZIP, and and view the files there.

If I'm mistaken about this, please someone post a link, thanks.

If I use any strong words, Google Translate is 100% to blame.

One thing that can't be denied - the quality and usefulness of Nord's new samples have really declined in the past few years.

I know it's the culture here to sing to the skies every time something new comes out - the current over-praise of the Spitfire quintet, for instance - but it's only a matter of weeks before the new sample is forgotten, after its general weakness or lack of applicability becomes obvious.

Soft Grand, anyone? No? Pearl Upright?

Once upon a time, Nord released exciting new pianos. The Stockholm and Nefertiti Rhodes. The White and Royal Grands. The Amber and Bambino uprights. They had a top-notch sample selection too, which, while still around, is not what it used to be, given either the age or recent unavailability of their original offerings.

Nord has also quietly removed the release dates of their samples from their new website, so it isn't glaringly obvious that the "good old days" are long gone.

The Stockholm EP was a recent release (wasn't it last year?) So newer than the Pearl... I do enjoy the Soft Grand but it's not the most useful piano. But of this type of dark piano I think it is the nicest one Clavia has released.

>The Stockholm EP was a recent release<

Since Nord has removed sample release dates from their new website (kind of a scurvy move), We the People will have to start keeping records. I believe you are correct - I think it came out last summer, 2023.
