Royal Grand 3D: strange sound range...

Post by Nordine »

Hi,

I'm not sure if you experience this or not, but especially when played from C#5 to F5, it sounds like C#5 sample was stretched to F5... like a plastic sound there :-/

What sample size are you using? Only the XL sample has a fully mapped keyboard.

Agree! In my opinion, all the Nord Grand Pianos do the same. Natural decay is too quick. Some sound like a banjo in this key range!!

Yes!!! Some pianos sound like a Banjo hhh that range especially. This occurs when one stretch the same sample yo the next few notes.

Did the XL sound better to you?
I'm curious about this myself. I've only had my NP5 a couple of weeks and have not yet tried all the different pianos or sample sizes. Once I find a few favourites I plan to load only the XL versions, if it even makes a difference to my amateur ears. :D

Even the XL version sound like a banjo...too bad, not only for the Royal Grand 3D, but even for some other pianos.

Perhaps I’m deaf, but I don’t hear a significant difference between the notes you mentioned and a couple of notes above and below. Of course, each octave has its "character", but playing chromatically up and down in this zone sounds to me quite homogeneously.
