Nord Lead 2 Keyboard as midi controller - velocity problem

Post by zbarnov »

Hello,
I have a problem : when I connect my Nord Lead 2 as a midi controller to, for ex., a yamaha CP : first of all the velocity sensitivity is very low, but then one of the keys is behaving like if its velocity would be different (very high in comparison with the others). So if I play it it normally, it will sound like I would have played it with a lot of force. Very annoying... I am wondering where it is coming from, and how to solve it.
I am guessing there is a midi value that is off on that key? Or else?

Thanks a lot in advance

ps : I have looked everywhere in the manuel and on internet and couldn't find anything.

You need to clean the contacts in the keybed for that key. The NL2 doesn't have a superb keybed for velocity to begin with, but most likely the "upper" contact for that key isn't closing properly so the synth isn't getting velocity info from the keystroke, and thus plays it at maximum. No software or MIDI will fix that. The video in this thread (viewtopic.php?p=170419&hilit=clean+key+contacts#p170419) will show you the process on a similar but not exactly the same keybed. However, the same principles apply to the one in the Lead 2.
