Where I live in North Carolina there are virtually no authorized repair shops or persons available to me within 4-6 hours drive. Nord Tech support gave me two referrals that didn't pan out, as both shops have closed and are unavailable. My Nord's LED screen (main one) is fading fast--I need it, and don't have a backup Nord Keyboard (I bought a Yamaha (!) for a backup, but it's too late to totally program it and it doesn't do arpeggiation, etc.) So I'm kind of stuck right now and besides the LED screen problem, the keybed is in need of adjustment and maybe even replacement (I got the keys stained a couple of years ago and they cannot be cleaned. The Action on my HP76 is so noisy now it bothers me, too. Playable, yes, But not without a screen to pull up programs, etc.
So if anyone can help me, my only alternative is to send the keyboard into Nord--I shudder at the prospect. Or to find a handyman keyboardist friend or acquaintance who is not afraid to work on it--but that's no guarantee it will work, and I don't want to risk it. Nor do I want to open the case and do anything--even if it were obvious, something could go wrong--and usually does when I try and fix something like this.
I am not too hopeful that a better alternative will arise, but if you have one, please share it with me.
And no matter how "easy" you might feel a self-repair would be, I can assure you, that one thing I've learned in my 73 years on this planet is that I should NEVER attempt to fix something other than a loose bolt in a bookcase plank.
Thanks in advance if you can help.
