NS4: Possible to control Global Volume via control Pedal?

I RTFM,
I am able to use morph to assign the piano volume to the control pedal.

However, I am unable to assign/morph the global volume to the control pedal.

Is there another way to control the global volume via a control pedal? My Electro did this automatically.

Hi. two options:
Morph all engines volume to the control pedal.
Use an Expression pedal like the Boss FV 500L

You can control the Global Volume only via the SwellPedal, setting it to control Volume (NS4 manual, Pedal Menu paragraph, Swell Pedal settings)

If you want to do the same via CtrlPed instead, you will have to morph each (active) Layer Volume one by one

I guess it is time to get a volume pedal.

Correct me if I am wrong, but If I were to use my expression expression pedal to control all the volumes of all the layers of every engine... I would have to do that for every program individually, right? If I am right, that is a major PITA.

Also, I would not be able to use it to control other functions because when I would be controlling those other functions the volume would simultaneously go up and down

Thanks, @maxplano. I'll have to take a look at that swell again. I looked at it and could have sworn it only controlled the organ volume. I guess I missed the setting that allows it to control the entire global volume.

Seems like this is a better idea than a volume pedal as that requires extra set of cable. Seems like the volume pedal with the extra link of cables is a source of potential buzz and problems.

Instead, just get another expression pedal and plug it into the swell.... sweet.

This setting configures a pedal attached to the ORGAN SWELL jack. See
“Ctrl Pedal Type” above for details.
Range: Roland EV7 (default), Yamaha FC-7, Korg, Fatar (and

This setting configure the Swell Pedal destination. Set this to Swell if you
want this pedal to act as a Swell pedal for the organ, or to Volume if it
should control the volume of all the Nord Stage 4 sound engines. When
set to Wheel Morph, the Swell Pedal mirrors the Morph functionality of
the Modulation Wheel.

You are right, in fact it is better to use the Swell Pedal for Volume and keep CtrlPed for AOB.

Or use an analog stereo Volume pedal such as FV500L suggested by catosim

Well, it's the answer you pick. Others might have other priorities if they need swell for the organ engine only.

In the end you probably won't want to have more than a handful pedals under your feet and need to make decisions.
