ART Pro Audio RM5 monitors?
ART Pro Audio RM5 monitors?
Has anyone tried these as monitors? To be used with a Nord Stage mostly as a piano. The price for the speakers new is about $550 USD. Alternatives? Budget $1000

What do you mean by 'monitors'? Is it meant for studio use or your personal monitor in a small band setup on stage? If the latter, consider IEM or the QSC CP8. You've already been reading the Amplification FAQ, haven't you?

Thanks for your relpy FZiegler - I mean for near field monitors for use in a small room. (Yes, I read the Amplification FAQ - very informative).
I am now tending toward the Yamaha HS5.

They might not be best bet if you want to use them in a small room - depends on what 'small' is. They have some volume and they need a little space to work - around 2 m distance to your ear would help. That's why I suggested them for stage use rather than at home. But you might like the sound - just put them on a stand, not directly on the floor - there could be some uncomfortable boom from the low end.
In any case, you can use them to play out in the public. Looking for 5'' active speakers for home use (strictly personal monitors) didn't seem a bad idea to me.

I'm going to get some 5" for home use as well. Thanks again for the feedback.
