As soon as you touch the slider, the LED's jump to match the position of the slider. It does not pick up the LED's by passing the stored value.

I don't know, for certain things like drawbars I would prefer the value to jump. But for filters, volumes, and the like, the "catch" approach would work best I guess.

Having the choice would be the best.

I own Studiologic Numa Compact 2X, it has physical drawbars for the organ section. They've implemented a setting within a menu where you can choose the slider "pickup method".

1. "Snap" (not exact setting name) --> as soon as you move a slider value will jump to the new position
2. "Catch" (not exact setting name) --> you move the slider however you want, but only when you cross the assigned value, it will "snap" to the slider and continue changing value with the slider.

So I think that this shouldn't be hard to implement within the software. Clavia could put a setting for this feature within SYSTEM settings and let users choose which method they would like to use.
Sometimes you may want to have the "Snap" method active, sometimes you may want to use the "Catch" method.

p.s. I agree that endless encoders are really the best possible type of buttons for all effect type parameters, for volume change, I would say motorized sliders are the best, but as they are more expensive best alternative would also be endless encoders like on NS3. But nevertheless I still think Stage 4 has big potential and with few software upgrades it could be even more powerful

Having a system setting for the slider controls to choose between "snap" and "catch" sounds optimal given the circumstances. Though I prefer rotary control over sliders when programming especially, the capability to move all three synth levels at once wouldn't be possible with encoders without morphing. Currently I morph levels quite a bit and don't make a lot of manual changes in live performance, however with the NS4 I'll be programming differently in some ways, and the real-time control might eliminate the need for a separate program from time to time as well.

Yes, endless encoders with LEDs make for the best knobs, and motorized sliders make for the best faders/drawbars. Short of that, switchable between jump or catch (or also a scaled response, as I described a few posts up) are the best way to make use of "ordinary" control mechanisms. And yes, it's not just the Numa Compact 2X, there are other boards that provide the option. It's definitely do-able (though that doesn't mean it's definitely do-able within the Nord's current architecture, for one reason or another).

And yes, sometimes you may want one behavior, and sometimes the other. I've experienced that on my YC73 which, like your Numa, has a system preference for this. So besides a system setting for how you want the controls to work by default, a shortcut to have them work the "other" way would be useful as well. For example, say your default is Jump, but you look at where the drawbars are physically located relative to their lights and to where you want them to be, and you realize, at this moment, catch would be better. A near-instant way to enable that change (until you change it back or switch programs) would be beneficial, too.

Hello!

Does anyone know if the 73 HA keys are fatar?

Any chance of seeing this set on Electro (replacing HP)?

99% they are Fatar (like on NP5 HA73), but only opening a NS4 HA73 can give a final confirmation

Will Nord apply this also to next Nord Electro? No one but Nord themselves can tell...

Yesterday I asked Musik Produktiv (https://www.musik-produktiv.de/suche.ht ... rd+stage+4) where I ordered a NS4C. They hope the will get it until end of March. NS4 88 is already postponed to end of May.
I have a bad feeling that I will get a message for delay in the next days.
