Hello,
I’m new to the forum. Mainly guitarist, I also play a bit of keys, trombone and have started drumming too. For the purpose of composing as well as having some gear available in my studio, I have got a Nord Lead A1 and a Electro 6D. Long gone are the days where I spent hours programming my D5 and D50 so I have «lost » those competences.
Recently, we have bought a Stage 3 88 for our keyboard player on which he will setup all the sounds necessary (replacing our current setup - master keyboard driving Logic sounds). My question is the following :
Question :
Is it possible to « import » the Stage 3 patches into the Electro 6D so that he does not have to haul the Stage 3 around for each ?
We are going to pilot the patch changes using MIDI Prgm changes from our backing tracks sequences and the idea that is also works with the 6D with reasonably close sounds.
Thanks in advance for your expertise.
Cheers
Marc

Hi and welcome,
unfortunately there's no way to directly import programs (=patches) between the two. It would be impossible even in principle since they don't share the same hardware and software architecture. Their program files aren't mutually readable.
You'll have to recreate a program on the Electro that "matches", as close as possible, the one on the Stage. It won't be perfect but you can get pretty close (or very far), depending on the actual program. Goes without saying that a program that uses multiple output routings, multiple panels, and the synth engine can't literally be created on the Electro.
Anyway, a tool you can use to speed up the first part of the process is this:
https://ns3-program-viewer.cyclic.app/ *
Load the program file(s) in there and you'll see, at a single glance, all the parameters. Takes way less than loading the program in the board itself and go through each setting of each panel.

Thanks for the reply, I’ll look into that app!
It may be simpler to just change my E6D for a S3 76
I know what to do!

Take a Stage 3 Compact into consideration as well as the keybed of the Stage 3 76 does not satisfy a lot of users, plus you benefit from the “real” drawbars of the Compact if playing organ is important for you. Best to compare both by playing each of them to find out which of the two keybed suit you best

Well some price difference from NE6D to NS3C but for sure a good advice, it may even replace the A1 (partly, unless multipart/layer synth is needed) in one shotSchorsch wrote:Take a Stage 3 Compact into consideration as well as the keybed of the Stage 3 76 does not satisfy a lot of users, plus you benefit from the “real” drawbars of the Compact if playing organ is important for you.
