NE6 ignores in „external keyboard to lo“ all MIDI CC Data

Post by Wolfgang T »

Apparently my NE6 ignores all CC MIDI data except pitchbend data in "external keyboard to lo" mode.
However, when attempting to control the NE6 through an external controller over the standard Global MIDI Channel, all CC MIDI data will be recognized by the NE6.

Please note that In the System Settings are the MIDI Controll Changes for CC and PC switched on SEND / RECEIVE.

Is there a setting or solution here to make the CC MIDI data run in "external keyboard to lo" mode ?

If I remember well (don't have my NE6 any more) when ExternalToLo is active you can control only the sections assigned to it and so only the CCs associated to those section will be handled, for example the typical case of Organ assigned to ExternToLo, where you should be able to send the CCs of the Lower manual drawbars over the ExtToLo channel and have them recognized by NE6.

Some current NE6 owner may confirm?

The only CCs recognised on the External Keyboard to Lo channel are Sustain #64 and Expression Pedal #11. All other CCs are on the Global channel. On the NE6 the CCs for Upper/Lower/Pedal Drawbars are #16 through #24. Nord will assume you are using the External Keyboard on the upper or lower tier of a 2 keyboard setup so there is no need to transmit additional CCs.

However, only one set of CCs for the Upper and Lower drawbars like on the E4 is a big let down. I have a D9 drawbar controller but it can't be used properly with the E6.

Another thing I found out is that in the „external keyboard to lo“ MODE pitch bend CC data from an external Controller is also accepted in the sample and piano section.

Yes Pitch Bend is received on all channels set to Ext to Low. But Pitch Bend is not a CC controller command! It's a completely different MIDI message,
