Install non-piano samples into Piano section of Electro 6?
Background
Since the Electro 6 only supports one instance of each of it's three sound engines in a single program, you cannot create a user program that uses two different instances of any of these in the same program.
I need to create a program that contains a drum sound and a 12-string guitar sound. Both of these are only available in the Sample memory and therefore can't be used at the same time in the same program. (Yes, I'm aware this can be done with the Stage 3).
Possible workaround?
If it's possible to create and insert a custom (guitar?) sample into the Piano sample memory, you could then use it along with another one in the Sample memory (drum) in a single program, either layered or with a keyboard split.
Possible or have i over-estimated what the Nord Sample editor can do?

Re: Install non-piano samples into Piano section of Electro
There is a workaround, if you have the sounds in need in a free format: You could create a 'custom split sample' for the sample engine - therefor you need the sounds in a WAV file. Just use the Nord Sample Editor. You cannot edit an existing sample, though. Neither convert an synth sample into a piano sample.
As the sample formats and features for the piano and the synth engine are highly different, there is no way to load one into the other.

and there is no editor for .npno (Piano Library/Section) samples, NSE is only for .nsmp (Sample Library/Synth Section) formatsFZiegler wrote:There is a workaround, if you have the sounds in need in a free format: You could create a 'custom split sample' for the sample engine - therefor you need the sounds in a WAV file. Here's a different approach that may or may not work. Depending upon how authentic you need the 12-string to sound, could you try one of the harpsichord samples from the piano library and tweak that to get reasonably close to what you need for where it's going to sit in the mix?
NS3-88, NS3C, Casio CT-S1, Radial Key Largo, Westone AM Pro 30 IEMs, Rolls PM59 Headphone Mixer, K&M 18880 Keyboard Stand with 18881 Second Tier, Holeyboard Pedalboard, Bose S1 Pro, JBL 305p MKII Monitors, Zoom Q2n-4K Gig Camera, Behringer XR18 Mixer

Excellent suggestion. Thanks for the quick reply!

Another great idea! I'll give that a try first. Perhaps a Clavinet would be closer as it was used to recreate electric guitar sounds on keyboard (Stevie Wonders Superstition).

Or use the Extern Section to trigger a guitar app (or drum app) on your iphone/ipad connected via MIDI.

Of course, you can MIDI your keyboard data - but without control through an Extern Section on the Electro 6.cookie wrote:Or use the Extern Section to trigger a guitar app (or drum app) on your iphone/ipad connected via MIDI.
