It's that time again - what are your top 3 acoustic samples?

Everything about Nord keyboards in general; which one to choose, the sound manager, sample editor, and general discussion about the sample and piano libraries.

If you are gigging with big band swing, you are a lucky man!

Don’t be too impressed. We don’t get paid most of the time. It’s just a bunch of mostly old guys getting together for the joy of playing.

But yes, we do swing!

Recreational bands can be wonderful! I have done a paying, full size swing band, then a recreational band, same size.

Nowadays I’m in a 2-to-4 horn band with custom arrangements cut down from the originals… surprisingly effective, because our horn players are so awesome.

But I’ll always be thankful for my rec band experience, as it was casual enough to give myself “permission” to make mistakes while honing my comp & solo skills. (Solo/improv skills remain highly suspect, lol.)

A few months into Piano 4 ownership, I am pretty split between White XL and Royal 3D XL. They are both fantastic samples, sometimes I do prefer one over the other for a specific style. The Lady D is also one of my favorites but is noticeably outdated. It would be so great to get a full XL sample of that piano. Amber upright is pretty cool too, and the Felt sample really surprised me, it's awesome!

An updated Lady D is on a lot of folks’ short lists around here for sure. It would certainly shake up my current list of faves.

I am definitely among those PScooter63 talks about :)
Bring on the new Lady D, with more substance in the treble and more dynamics... :please:

Hi everyone!

Thank you for this thread and I have finished reading all your inputs! I have listed the pianos that you all mentioned and I will try them one by one when my ne6d arrives in 4 days or so.

I'm 80% a piano sound kind of guy. The other 20% are Rhodes, Tines, and organs. If there are more threads for these topics, I would very much appreciate it if you can drop them down and point me in the right direction. Drawbars is one thing I'm not familiar with and have not used before. A thread on this will also be helpful. TIA!

I'm coming from a Yamaha Moxf and while those keys served me well for almost a decade now, I think it's time to learn and bond with the Nord system. I will be asking a lot of questions and for sure will hit some walls. I'm sure that you guys will be here to help me out! right? lol

I hope this message finds all of you well. Cheers!

(this thread is like, a year old now. since the last post. I wonder if your preferences on your big three's have changed over time? just curious. We can make this thread alive again, even for a moment. would like to hear your thoughts)
