Wow! There's just one little problem, lol.

Everything about Nord keyboards in general; which one to choose, the sound manager, sample editor, and general discussion about the sample and piano libraries.

Wow! There's just one little problem, lol.

Hi all! I just got my first Nord this week, the S3C. I'm actually a little sad that I waited so long. I haven't connected with an instrument like this before. Everything about it is just so musical. I'm no virtuoso or anything like that, and I'm not currently playing gigs. I do lead at my church, but I use their S90 there with Ableton and/or MainStage. I guess I just didn't know if it was worth it before, and now that I have it, I wish I would have jumped sooner!

I am looking around at my synth collection and wondering what I might sell, because now I think I want to try the Wave 2 as well. I have a couple of synths that I had wanted for a long time, but I'm kinda falling into that thinking of, "If it isn't bringing me joy, why am I keeping it?" I've gotten so much out of the Nord in just a few days, I'm just overwhelmed by how good it is. I was playing around last night, and my 17 year old son said, "Do you ever record any of that? Because, I would listen to that kind of stuff." I don't think there's much higher praise than that, lol.

So, I don't really have a problem, lol. I just wonder if I want to swap out some other gear for more of the red stuff.

As an aside, from what I've read here, I think the answer is that no one knows yet, but is there any chance that the programs from the Piano 5 are going to be available for the S3 at some point? I saw a demo of the Cinder City patch and I love it. I can probably create something similar, but I was just wondering in general if anyone has heard anything that I might not have found in the forums yet.

I don't think the programs will come across directly, but they should be able to be recreated manually. There is a program reader utility floating around here somewhere, simply read off the values and use NS3C equivalents, adjust to taste, etc. And, yes, the Wave 2 looks like a lot of fun.

It’s definitely a drug. I got a Piano 4, then an Electro 6 which was damaged and which I returned for a NS3C, and then got a Wave 2.

I love the Wave 2. I also added a Prophet Rev2 module, well, because. But I bet I could recreate most of it on the Wave.

Hi davisjj

and congratulations to your nord stage 3 as well as a very warm welcome to the nord world and this wonderful forum of nord enthusiasts.

As far as your thought of NP5 programs being available for other platforms is concerned this so far hasn‘t been able between the different keyboard lines. The program mentioned by cphollis is here:

https://ns3-program-viewer.herokuapp.com/

made by some members of this forum, but it only reads out the stage line up to now, as much as I know.

I think you need to have the NP5 in front of you to check the program‘s settings and then recreate it on your NS3. It may well be that the NP5 has some new sample files onboard which are not yet available for yours, as there is a new nsmp4 format implemented.

Anyway, good keyboard choice, and good luck.

Cheers from Germany

This might help with the Cinder City Patch.
Piano 5 patch Cinder City. 2 Layers of piano 2 layers of samples.
Royal Grand 3D XL
EP 1 Deep Timbre L
Synth Pad -
Synth bass – Drone Bass
I can hear a very large reverb and also some delay.
So, I would think you could program something very close to the Piano 5 patch on a Stage 3. There is a youtube video of Jack Duxbery demoing the Piano 5, He plays a few patches, One of them is the Cinder City patch, He shows which piano or sample is on each layer. I couldnt see exactly which synth pad is used. Maybe someone with a Piano 5 would be so kind as to fill in the gaps. Cheers Norm

Thanks so much! Yes, it's the Duxbery video that got me hooked on the sound. I'll take a closer look. Loving this Stage a little more every day and glad that this group exists!

I think the one thing that might be missing is the Chorale reverb, but I have a BigSky and can probably cover it with that.

Thanks again! I’m working on replicating the Cinder City patch as best I can. For anyone else that’s interested, I’m attaching some screen grabs from the Duxberry video that indicates some of the FX settings, volume levels, etc.
