Error message on sample editor

Has anyone seen this error message before or know how to fix it?

It pops up when I try to drop files into the Nord sample editor

Hi Dan,

Haven't seen this one (yet).
But maybe you can provide us with a little bit more information:

- Which OS are you running on your computer (Windows 11 isn't on the supported OS's list)?
- Which version of the sample editor have you installed?
- Version 2 > can handle stereo or mono audio files as sample sources, with up to 44.1 kHz sample rate, 24 bits resolution.
- Version 4 > not documented in the online help
- Which file type are you dropping into the sample editor?
- Has it worked before?


edit: I've tested the Nord Sample Editor in Windows 11 and I can succesfully drag a wav file into it.

- Which file type are you dropping into the sample editor? Nord sample instrument
- Has it worked before? No - I'm a complete novice at this and this is the first I've tried

Just tried it again with an .nsmp file from Nord user sounds - same error message

Hi Dan,

you cannot use .nsmp files with Sample Editor. The editor is made to create .nsmp/.nsmp3 samples from wave files, means you can load .wav files into the editor and it generates a Nord sample file. You cannot modify or edit existing Nord sample files

Which is not a poor limitation of the functionality provided by Nord, but probably a way to protect intellectual property - for Nord sample sounds, third party samples etc. Has been discussed on the forum on previous occasions.

Which may be deplorable especially for Electro users who would like to combine two samples into one split sample.

is it perhaps the Nord Sound Manager you think you are using? Do you intend to transfer files to your nord?

Yes! So one of my questions answered the issue (great troubleshooting ) : as Schorsch said, you can't load nsmp or nsmp3 files into the Sample Editor. Only wav (or mp3?) files.

No mp3 or flac support for the moment. But audio stream (for my Win10 computer, it's MME, DirectSound, ASIO and WASAPI - not all combinations for audio-in and -out possible).
