Re: Notes randomly hitting peak velocity
Unfortunately, the volume issue is still there in my Nord Grand. Where I initially focussed completely on trying to reproduce the peak volume issue, I find that in normal playing the keybed actually is worse than before the reparation. When playing normal force/volume and trying to emphasize a single note a bit, that single note gets way too loud. There is a complete disconnect between what I play and what I hear.
Looks like they certainly did something to the keybed, but not for the good. Have contacted my dealer again and he has contacted Nord ('We've never heard of this keybed issue with the Nord Grand...') and the service center ('The issue in the keybed is fixed...'). The dealer is certainly helpful/understanding and is looking for possible ways out of this.
Will keep you updated when I have more information.

Re: Notes randomly hitting peak velocity
I wish you luck. And let us now about the rest of this story.
I hesitate now.
Thinking of buying the Kawai MP 11 se instead for the keybed but I like the sound of the Nord more.
Luxery problems...

Re: Notes randomly hitting peak velocity
I also hesitate to buy a Nord Piano 4 for the same reason (reliability of the keybed) but I think I 'm going to buy it anyway.
I like very much this keyboard and I don't want to buy something else. Maybe it will be a mistake but with the 3 years warranty the risk is contained (I hope so).
Frapi, I wish you the best for the future with your Nord Grand.

Re: Notes randomly hitting peak velocity
I have the same issue with the D above Middle C Key.... I am looking for a Nord Service person near New Orleans.
My Grand is only 1 year old!
I would really appreciate updates on those who have had this issue fixed.
Thanks!
Joe

Re: Notes randomly hitting peak velocity - "C" above middle
YES! This randomly hitting peak velocity curse has afflicted MY NORD GRAND too!
I have a NORD GRAND SN# (PE10006) and I have this exact problem on "C" above middle 'C'....
Yes it will scare the hell out of you, and it is annoying as hell x's 2.........
I'm Takinfg it in to Audio Electronics this Monday...(Dallas TX) .... I hope it's just dirt and cleaning.........
Curious if the the KAWAI Hammer action lends itself to this behavior? Instrument is parked
In a studio with HOSPITAL grade air cleaning....So we will see......????

Re: Notes randomly hitting peak velocity
I have the same problems on my Nord Grand with several different Keys. I had that issues a few times but at first, I thought it was my fault. Yesterday I played a gig and it was so obvious and really anoying. Than I switched the keyaction from heavy to medium and it seemed to be a little better. A friend of mine had the same problems with his new Kawai MP7SE, finally he sent it back. The NG has a Kawai-keyboard, so perhabs it's a Kawai-problem?

Is there someone here who own a NP4 and didn't noticed any bug? I hope all units are not concerned...
Your comments are recent so not sure Nord has fixed the problem!
Now what about the other brands?
Maybe the Yamaha CP88 or other Korg SV-2 have bugs too.
i had a Korg SV2, after 6 Month the keys were clunky and further it was repaired. After 7 month there was the same problem, so after repairing I sold it.
I had also a Yamaha CP73 with the same issue. I posted this in a forum and afterwards many People reported the same problem!
Only for your Info: The Yamaha CP 88 has a much better keybed as the CP73. It has a wooden keybed and still now problems with the keybed hardly reported !

Re: Notes randomly hitting peak velocity
I'm starting to have the issue on two keys. And it is going to be more frequent day after day. Don't know really what to do if service doesn't even know what and how to repair as said in here

Re: Notes randomly hitting peak velocity
I’m considering a NG but this issue is very concerning, especially for a product in this price range… does it only happen with internal sounds, or also when hooked up to an external MIDI instrument/VI? Thanks.

Re: Notes randomly hitting peak velocity
I ended up switching my Grand with another one at my shop.
Though the majority of my keybed problems have been solved, the random peak velocity issue is still there.
In my case this, now, only happens with e-pianos in bright mode (interested to hear whether others have this with different sounds as well).
I haven't used it as a midi-controller, so couldn't tell whether this would occur with external instruments as well.
If you're interested, I could try this with Keyscape (I normally use a different board with that).
