I really think it's time for a new Clavinet

Everything about Nord keyboards in general; which one to choose, the sound manager, sample editor, and general discussion about the sample and piano libraries.

yes...bring it on...Release Samples could be assigned and actived by the "String Res" button...and perhaps leaky dampers on "slow release"...add "bebung" on aftertouch please!

If you are playing Clav in the traditional (1970s funk/R*B way) I find that adjusting the velocity sensitivity to three and adding a bit of overdrive help the nord clav cut through a bit more. Agree that the samples are showing their age these days.

And the amp simulation? They are the same of nord stage 1 model or were improved in this year? I think they are an other weak point of nord stage.

I'm just amazed (and dissapointed) to look today and find there is still no updated clavinet sample. Is it a licencing issue perhaps?

There is either a particular reason or it's pretty poor effort from Nord.

Have to ask - is this request for recording originals, or playing covers - and if the latter, what material and to whom? The Clavinet is pretty much an of-its-time instrument - like the harpsichord. How much better can the sample we already have really get?

Given the delays caused by the pandemic and that ever-growing clamor for newer and better-sampled acoustic pianos, I'm not betting that Clavia is putting Clavinets high on their to-do.

The original Hohner D6 Clav is not super exciting until it gets run through effects and a strong amplifier, which is available on the Nord instruments in many flavors. I've been able to get the clav sounds I need from everything starting with the Electro 2 up through NS3. The only thing that could make it a little better would be adding release samples. Someone on this forum (I think) had created such a sample that could be loaded in the Sample section and then layered with the clav section.
Nords: NE2, NS2 88, NS3 Compact x 2
Live rig: NS3, Vent, Radial KL-8, Shure PSM-900 IEM Rig, UE18 & UE7 IEMs.
Studio: Hammond A-101 & Leslie 122, Yamaha CP-80, Yamaha S90, NS2, DSI Prophet-6, Vent II, Roland JX-8P.

Is that possible at all? The sample should trigger with the "note release"...
I think that somebody posted the hammer sound for Rhodes (in which case it works because it is triggered with the "note on").

I could be wrong on the release sample, though I recall is being something maybe using decay or even delay. I'll do some looking.

The reason for wanting the sample is that the Electro is marketed as realistically recreating electo-mechanical keyboards of which the Clav is one of the best known. Let's not pretend that a 5.8MB sample is enough!

I don't want to be told 'you don't really need it'. I think this is called Gaslighting....

I want a proper Clavinet sample. Mulitilayered hamer on type samples, multilayed release samples. The whole thing. Like the Rhodes samples, like the Piano samples. It doesn't matter why. We want it. People have asked for it. What's the issue? Could this not be done in one day?

I'm not angry. Just dissapointed. It's a great keyboard anyway, and the Clav sound is ok. But why not just improve it? Not everything has to be a cost/risk/benefit decision. How about about just doing it becasue it the the right thing to do?

One way to measure the quality of a certain instrument sound on my Nord Electro is whether or not I mind getting that same sound from my Roland FA-07 (I have both boards available in my setup I use for live gigs):
For B3 organ, the Roland is a no-go, and the Electro is a must.
For EP or Wurli, the Roland is a no-go, and the Electro is a must.
For Clav.... I have no problem using the Clav sound on my Roland.

I consider this a telling statement.
