Connect Lead 4 to Stage 3

In the meanwhile I'm a bit annoyed by the fact that the Lead 4 doesn't own a reasonable display. I have to search for the right sound all the time, because you can only see numbers. Until now I just put a paper on the Lead 4 for live use with the numbers + which sound is connected to that number. There must be a better way to deal with this problem, right?

I heard that it's possible to connect the Lead 4 to the Nord Stage. Is this correct?

If this is right, I'd like to connect the Lead 4 to my Stage 3. The idea would be that I build my song on the Stage 3 and that when I switch to a different song on the Stage, the Lead 4 will automatically switch to the same song (with its own sound made on the Lead 4. So not the sound from the Stage with the Lead 4 used as additional midi keyboard).

Is there someone who knows this? You would be a GREAT help!

Hi, Charlotte-

This will absolutely work, I do it with my Wave 2 connected to Stage 3. I also used my A1 which only has numbers like your L4:

1. Midi out of NS3 to Midi in of L4
2. Disable Global channel on NS3. Choose a channel to use on a Per Program basis in the Extern section (I use 7). Set the global channel on the L4 to the same channel.
3. On each NS3 program, you will need to enable Extern Section and select the global channel of the L4 (these must match)
4. Set Send on Load to On, LSB and MSB to 0 (you should be able to get to a lot of programs with just these two, but all the Nords are a little different here).
5. Select PC (program number) and move the dial. You should see the patches changing on the L4. Find the patch you want, hit shift to exit Extern, and store the setting. If you don't want to have the L4 sound when you play the NS3, use shift and the External zone button to disable all zones.

Once this is done, everytime you select a program on the NS3, it will bring up the patch you specified in the Extern setting on the L4
