New Samples releases
Will there be any new releases of piano and synth samples soon? Does anyone know about a release date?

Re: New Samples releases
Hi Sussko,
usually, there are no announcements for new sounds nor is there a release plan. And there seems to be no tradition of insider info on the forum.
However, there often were new sounds around Christmas.
Have you already checked every existing sound? Not pure: Try to play around with them, tweak a bit etc. In my opinion, you should have fun for more than another year with all the grand, upright etc. sounds.

Re: New Samples releases
Not sure if this has been commented on yet but there are new tuned percussion sounds in the sample library...bowed vibes, Thai gongs, glockenspiel and tuned cowbells. I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere.

Re: New Samples releases
Maybe they hadn't been mentioned here yet. I can't find them in the Nord news archive neither. But I have them since early this year. So: No breakthrough, not new.

Re: New Samples releases
Good to know. Did they come out at the same time as the new strings? Maybe that is why they were overlooked.

Re: New Samples releases
I'm not sure. I downloaded them in March, the strings in last Decembre.

Re: New Samples releases
Thai gongs...sigh. If you are playing Thai gongs in your band, time to find another band.
The White Grand came out 6/19, which is not that long ago. After the aural experiment of the Royal Grand, it was a welcome offering, and satisfied a lot of us who were asking for an updated Steinway. Clavia doesn't release a grand a year, so we will need to wait awhile. I personally don't need to see another upright, ever, although I suppose there are some people here who play them. But seriously Clavia, no more baby uprights or bambinos or whatever...spend the time and get us a Bechstein!
They also released significant improvements to their Rhodes group, back in 12/18, which I think went a bit unheralded. A lot of people complained about their Rhodes sounds and I think these improvements made a considerable difference. We can't forget that a lot of the Rhodes sound and feel comes from keyboard action so if you are playing semi-weighted, you're never going to quite get the bounce.
Their Wurlitzer continues to be awful but then so is the Wurli on the Korg SV-2, which has awesome Rhodes sounds. I'm not sure anyone has a good Wurli.
As for samples - whatever. If you are the fun machine in your band, then I guess you need zithers and female choruses and what-not, but as a serious keyboardist you should insist on playing only the big three - acoustic, Rhodes, and Hammond.

Yeah man, right on. And if you're a serious computer programmer you should insist on using only the big three - abacus, the antikythera mechanism and ENIAC1 (I know some of the young kids will say I should add the Eniac2 to the list, post modern pillocks!)

Re: New Samples releases
That‘s interesting - i myself find the Wurly 2 sample from Nord absolutely stellar. I used it very often on stage and it was always a great experience. But for me, every single Rhodes sample from Nord is lacking in a certain way. The enhanced samples from december 2018 are a slightly improvement but they really not make a night-and-day difference. I really would be happy if Nord would finally release a big Rhodes sample which is on par with Scarbee, Purgatory creek, Korg SV2 or Yamaha CP88, which i find all are much better. Please don’t get me wrong: I love my Nords in every other aspect!Gambold wrote:
