So "the best" for "a lot more of money"?
RCF offers a TT 08-A II which might be the successor of the TT08a. Haven't found it in a store, though.

Sorry, I hate it if the thread switches to another page and there are more new post to read. Please look at my previous post, too!

Hmmmm... I own them since 3 weeks, buyed them used, one was B-ware... I only hear the fans sometimes a little bit, but not disturbing and only while silence. The boxes are 2 m in front of me on the floor placed on a foam underlay with a low angle to upside to correct the radiation direction up to my ears. I can hear the fans, but not disturbing.

Here in this thread was talked sometimes about the fact, that the fan is audible. That based on the lot of power of the amplification and seems to be necessary for this amplifiers (in difference to the former version QSC K8 with fewer power). But his difference, hearable in your recording, seems to be not correct. Perhaps one fan is bad... I would contact QSC-Service Germany

Thanks, uro-frank!

Sent the one with the louder fan back - hope the next one will be better.
And will try to get more distance to the speakers - maybe put them on the floor, too.

I'm quite fond of the crystal clear sound.

Did anyone know QSC highly recommends (even prescribes) a firmware update for the K10.2 because of risk of overheating? Updates for K12.2 and K8.2 recommended as well: https://www.qsc.com/live-sound/products ... -firmware/
And did you know the QSC K.2 have a micro USB socket under the rotary knob?

I found that while searching for a block diagram of the K8.2 speaker somebody in the thread was talking about - which I didn't find.

Take care while updating: No disconnecting, no interrupting while writing firmware - as usually!

One more point about those QSC K8.2: Seems as if I'll have to do more practising - you can hear everything you perform. It's great, but challenging. :-)

If you scan earlier on this thread, you'll see that the fans are very easy to disable. If you don't run them hot, you should be OK.

Thanks, Chuck! It took only a few months that your recommendation finally made me a happier man. It was worth buying them: With these speakers as monitors I (for sure) will know much better where my place is in the big band.

We'll see about the fan; I tend to leave it on. I'm sure one of them was not OK, but no problem to get another one.

And I learned from you, too, that it's really worth asking for a special price if you want something bundled. It's not like buying two packs of butter in the super market.

Hi FZiegler... did you change the box with the fan-noise with your shop? Is it better now?

Yes, indeed: They took it back and sent it in to the QSC repair shop (I obviously wasn't the first to complain - that's why it probably was B-ware in the end). I got a new one which is absolutely OK. With the temperatures in my band room, the fans switch up after a while - but that's not a problem. All together, it tends more to be a delight.

What was your question for?

Great informative thread everyone. One day in the music store, listening to someone else compare EV's powered speakers to another brand I don't recall, we had all noticed how much better the EV's sounded. So I had initially thought, hey, maybe that's my powered speaker for my new Nord. But since nobody has even mentioned EV, maybe they aren't so good from the Nord perspective.

Everyone likes the QSC K8.2's though. Thank goodness for this forum, or I might've wasted my money. Sounds like these K8.2's are the thing. More clams than the EV's, but not by much. Thanks for the advice, this forum is invaluable for this sort of information. My music store would likely tell me anything I point at will suit me, so long as I'm pulling out the cheque book, colloquially speaking (what's a cheque?)

Great to get real opinions from users, rather than relying on the seller's opinion ... which is often, "Oh yes, you'll love that product ... can we wrap it up for you now so you can take it home?"
