In Coronatimes you get more time to think about your rig! For good and for bad!
I´m thinking of changing to NE 6 SW as my main band-gig-board but also for easier pianogigs.... Today I use NE 6 HP but I´m struggling to get the right feel with the keys... loved them from the start but are slowly starting to loose it.....
So....
With the 61 you do octave down and reach low C for heavy bassnotes but loose the high-octave....
With the 73 you reach low E without loosing the high-octave... (of course you can do octave down as well but you get a lot off bass-keys that only will sound odd..)
I know exactly, what you what to say. The 6hp (also the 5hp) with its TP100L/R is very "slow" and a little bit "hooky". the TP40 (Stage2 or Stage3 or Kurzweil Forte) is much better, but you will get the double weight. So I bought a 5d/73 (same keyb in 6d/73), because I didn't want to octave up and down. And I had the same question with my hammond sk-1/61 vs. /73 - I bought a sk1/73 (best light-weighted keyb I ever played - but this was not the question). I would buy a 6d/73.
One more vote for the 73 keys. I had a 61 key board before my current Nord 6d 73 and was forever running out of keys or forgetting whether a song needed transposing up or down an octave. I still use transpose down for some of the bass heavy songs (and use a -1 in the patch name to remind my little brain!) but it's much better. I just found that I was having to constrain my playing on the 61 (and still ended up going trying to play over the edge!).
73 is so much more convenient, usable, versatile! I would have bought the 73 keys version myself if it had fitted in my Fiat Panda on its rear seat. If transporting space isn‘t a problem I can only recommend the larger board. Best regards from still sunny Germany.
