Electro 6 sample section polyphony 30 or 46?
Hello Everyone, on the Nord website, the polyphony for the sample section is listed as 30 in the Electro 6 comparison chart, but is shown as 46 in the Specification section. Can anyone identify what the actual polyphony is for the sample library section in the Electro 6?

Re: Electro 6 sample section polyphony 30 or 46?
I wondered if any Electro 6 owner could wager a guess at the polyphony? Does it seem closer to 30 or 46? If it's 46, then that's considerably more sample polyphony than my Stage 3 (and makes the Electro 6 sample polyphony equal with the Nord Grand). It does make me interested in the Electro 6 all the more...

Hi,
You might be able to test this using this method I tested for the NS2:
nord-stage-forum-f3/polyphony-lie-t14278-30.html#p94398
Make sure you are recording a sine wave sound (so it appears as single frequency in the spectrogram) and you play all different notes, while not releasing the sustain pedal.
As soon as you run out of polyphony one of the frequencies in the spectrogram should disappear.
I did that in Audacity, then displayed the recording as a Spectrogram (frequency axis set to logarithmic).
Please report what you find out!
PS: I also wonder if in the NS3 there is a patch complexity factor which might run out of voices sooner than simpler patches.

Re: Electro 6 sample section polyphony 30 or 46?
Thank you Mr G! That is great info and a clever way to determine actual polyphony. I'm happy to see that the Stage 2 does match the advertised polyphony (18 in single slot and 9 in dual slot). I love my Stage 3 (..and I also have a Stage 2ex which is my favorite), but have been a bit disappointed with the Stage 3 sample polyphony. It somehow seems to run out of voice much sooner that I would expect. It actually "seems" to have lower polyphony in use than my 2ex at times, but I cant determine why. In particular, using dual slots; I would expect 17 voices of polyphony from the Stage 3, but when I play I would guess its more like 8 or 9 voice polyphony in dual slot mode for the sample engine. I think you are correct; and that there is some kind of patch complexity factor that causes lower polyphony. I don't have audacity yet, but I'll have to try your testing method sometime. I must admit, if the Electro 6 TRULY does have 46 voice polyphony in everyday use (or even close to that number); it is tempting to possibly replace my Stage 3 with an Electro 6.

It's not my instrument - but maybe this information is the answer for the different specifications on the website:
"v1.12 (2018-06-01)
Sample Synth polyphony increased."
(From the update history of the instrument)
So maybe, it really has a more powerful polyphony than the Stage. Who knows.

Well spotted FZiegler, that probably explains why the Comparison chart shows the original (lower = 30) polyphony, they usually create it when the new product is launched and likely did not update itFZiegler wrote:It's not my instrument - but maybe this information is the answer for the different specifications on the website:

Re: Electro 6 sample section polyphony 30 or 46?
Thank you FZiegler and Maxpiano!!! I think that is precisely what happened; and it makes very good sense. So originally, the launch specs of the Electro 6 was 30 for the sample section; but was upgraded to 46 voice polyphony in Update v1.12. That would even stand to reason, as the latest generation (Nord Grand, Piano 4, and now Electro 6) all have 46 voice sample polyphony. If it truly is 46 voice poly in the Electro 6; that makes it an extremely attractive option to me. I do still notice voice stealing on my Stage 3, which I believe is supposed to have 30 voice poly. 46 would be a big step forward....
