Nord drum (machine)
Re: Nord drum (machine)
Bdods I've been thinking of it and do want one but first comes my acoustic kit then if everything is as good as it seems it may be I will buy it. I want to hear and see more of it! How long until they are available etc.

Re: Nord drum (machine)
While I can see adding the Nord Drum to an existing drum set for synthesized drum sounds I was really hoping that the Nord Drum would be the next evolution in electronic drumming. I would have LOVED to see a Nord sample library section dedicated to various real sounding drum kits and cymbals that have been meticulously sampled by the Nord team. Maybe even add the existing synthesized section that is the Nord Drum mixed with sample library type drum sounds...something like a Nord Wave drum where you can mix synthesized drums with authentic sounding samples creating something altogether new. Maybe even add an effects and amp section.
Also I really feel as though the Nord Drum should have atleast 8 sound inputs instead of 4...Nord Drum EX?
I can practically already achieve what the Nord Drum is by hooking up my existing Yamaha electronic drums via midi to my Nord Lead 2x rack drum presets.
If they could make a Nord Drum module that could do all of the above I think it would be game over for Roland and Yamaha electronic drums. I do like what the former Ddrum team is doing over at 2Box,but their hardware is flimsy and it is not available in the USA. If Nord just put out a great drum module that was compatible with all rubber, mesh type drum triggers then they wouldn't even need to make a drum rack and pads thus keeping cost down.
Sorry if this post is long winded, but I would just really like to see a great next generation Nord drum module with sample library type sounds somewhere in the near future.

Re: Nord drum (machine)
i dont get it...
What is it good for?
I mean, if you really NEED this kind of sounds, why wouldnt you just use a VST?

O_O
Re: Nord drum (machine)
The more I think about it the more I like the idea of waveforms/algorithms to do some dry synth stuff. I hate to tie up my MacBook on vst.

Re: Nord drum (machine)
TheCapMan now that I have seen more clips from NAMM I am starting to wonder. Sure seems like the presenter is just giving us more flavors of the same. I would love this of it had some serious synthisit going on but so far it just seems like some tweaks of a patch. I am left wondering what or if it is capable of more. I guess we will see. I won't rule it out yet but really need to see its range better.

Re: Nord drum (machine)
Just watched another video about it... It's true, it has just one single output and it's mono. Only four channels and mono output. Come on, what's the decade here? I could understand if we were on 80s.

Re: Nord drum (machine)
Mono! I think I have to agree mono is unexceptable. I'll buy a new kit first and wait for stereo! Maybe add a second Wavedrum instead, it has incredible stereo! I really wanted to like the nord drum and do but mono, now I don't get it.

Re: Nord drum (machine)
I now own one and I like it!
it's very tiny, yet the build quality that we are used to from Nord, rugged, easy to operate, & it sounds good!
I'm fine with the limited amount of channels, but I do agree it would have been nicer to have stereo,
I think with stereo it would have become more of an instrument of it's own, now it's more a unit that you add to your kit, -which I will-

Re: Nord drum (machine)
Yeah, more and more I think about it I really get amazed (or almost angry) why the h**l did they make it mono?!? I could tolerate just 4 channels if it was at least stereo. Having stereo + 4 indvidual outputs would of course the professional way to do it. If you wanna record it, you would probably want to put those 4 on individual tracks. Or, on stage you might want to have some EQ boost on bass drum etc. etc.
Now when everything is forced to one output it REALLY limits its use. So IMO this a clear example when sparing money and space (maybe they tried to make it as small as possible...?) can be a mistake. Less isn't more in this case obviously.
