How to get a more aggressive Leslie Sound on Nord E6?

Hi all,

I switched from a Nord stage classic compact to a Nord Electro 6D-73.... did not need the synth section due to other gear I have... but did need a good hammond with drawbars and EP...

Anyways: on the Nord Stage the Leslie was more... aggressive and noticeable when I switched between slow/fast? On the E6, it is more subdued and perhaps more realistic... but not as aggressive as on the stage classic in my opinion. My band members really notice the difference when I solo... I am not talking about the "(over)drive" setting, just the leslie effect as such.

Any similar observations, and how to get to a more "aggressive" leslie? I tried all the leslie settings in the menus, but no success. Using an external leslie effect is only last resort...

Some options to consider?

On the Stage 3, you can use morph to assign leslie speed to the mod wheel. It's easy to get a pleasing, slow burbling sound that way.

If you're not happy with the internal leslie sim, maybe an external one will better suit you? The Vent II or similar may be what you're looking for. That being said, I have a Vent II that I almost never use as it's not worth the trouble.

Another route is amplification. If you're not playing in stereo, that will certainly help. And then there's the "extreme stereo" of the SpaceStation v3. Dial it up to "wide" and everyone will think they're sitting inside the leslie speaker itself.

Perhaps to be more precise: with “aggressive” I think I mean more depth of the leslie effect.... currently the “wobble” is not pronounced enough, a “Depth” setting I tried to find in the menus or sysex, but did not find.

Did anyone notice the “depth” difference as well between the classic Stage (and assuming early Electros) and the E6’s?

Are you amplifying in mono or stereo?

Hard-panned Stereo speakers will certainly exaggerate the rotary effect.

Maybe on your old Nord Stage Classic you had presets with more "drive" on the Leslie ?

I would reconsider using a Vent,,, my original Vent sounds amazing and I use a Tall and Fat pedal ... it increased my setup time only a couple minutes,,, well worth it,,,

@Paul Push: Stereo amplification...tried to mono it, but no improvement in depth of the effect.

Again, this is not about the "drive", really just about the "wobble" (i.e. Depth) not being pronounced enough to my taste...
