Re: Next version of MacOS probably doesn't support Sound Man
Analogika, you're a broken record on this beta software issue, and you're completely missing the larger issue. The main issue Clavia is faced with is due to 32-bit vs. 64-bit architecture. That's not to say Clavia shouldn't make sure its software works with the newest OS that many people are already testing out, but I have a lot of apps on my Mac right now that were never "updated to work with a beta OS" and they just... work. I know there are tens of thousands of apps out there and probably a very long list of apps that are having issues on Catalina, but the fact remains that a lot of developers were on the ball this whole time and Clavia wasn't one of those developers.
I wish Clavia were in the same position right now as other software developers who aren't presently scrambling to fix something. That would have helped ensure a smooth transition from one OS version to the next.

No one knows if and for how long Clavia is on for internal testings of potential 64bit versions of their software products, all we can do is wait until Catalina is released.

No one knows the Clavia software team is “scrambling” to finalize the update. They may just being kinda Swedish about it. We scandahoovians tend to approach life with an equanimity that can be maddening to those whose outlooks display... less Scandinavian equanimity.

So....who's winning in this thread? I lost count of the score.
Man, this thread is exhausting to read.

Re: Next version of MacOS probably doesn't support Sound Man
The principle of development within beta strategy is to ensure that when a NEW OS releases, such as MacOS, developers are given the chance to compile versions to support the new OS for those who want to get straight in to it. Perhaps going to a WWDC conference might help you lol. been there, done it, worn the shirt. YAWN!!!!!analogika wrote:Why should they bother rushing to release new software before Catalina is released?
Who - apart from the developers - gives a f**** whether the management software runs on a beta OS?
Clavia needs to not only fix sound manager for 64 bit native use, but also needs to fix Sample Editor to properly support it's instruments and have this compatibility also. simple as that, otherwise as a manufacturer and developer, it's running in the wrong race track.

And is there any reason — any reason at all — to assume that this isn’t exactly what has been happening for months now?LewTheKeysGuy wrote:The principle of development within beta strategy is to ensure that when a NEW OS releases, such as MacOS, developers are given the chance to compile versions to support the new OS for those who want to get straight in to it. Remember, the guy complaining here is not a Clavia developer, but some guy on the internet who is running a beta OS and somehow assumes that because he doesn’t have access to a version of Sound Manager that runs on this Beta, it must not exist.
If you’ve spent time at WWDC, you know that there are extremely good reasons why developers might not hand out beta versions of their software for testing on beta OSen to anybody but a tight-knit team of beta testers. This stupid complaint thread alone is proof that it can be a bad idea.
Can you imagine having to deal with dozens or hundreds of guys like this and trying to separate frivolous complaints from actual bug reports, while discerning what are your own software issues, and what are bugs in the OS?
The horror.

I believe Jeffrey Epstein was reading this thread, just before he tied the noose.
