Factory backup/restore

Post by ErictheViking »

Hi everyone. A newbie to the forum and a complete novice when it comes to my shiny new Electro 6D. After playing ‘other manufacturers keys’ I relented and decided to go down the Nord route. Not disappointed :keyboard2:

My question is this:- I have attempted to reload the factory default voices (after having downloaded and unzipped them) but the Sound Manager cannot find the (ne6b) file needed to restore the voices. The file does not appear to be in any of the folders. Am I missing something obvious?

I have also attempted to manually reload the pianos and samples. The pianos loaded fine but although al the samples transferred at least half of them do not play, or at least play but at a ridiculously low volume.

Please can someone correct me if I am doing something wrong.

Thanks for a great forum.

Hi, if you have downloaded the Factory Backup (form Nord website Downloads) as a .zip file ensure that you extract the .ne6b contained in it, don't just browse into the .zip file.

Hi maxpiano thanks for replying. When unzipped as per your suggestion the ne6b does not exist, only an ne6t which is in the Settings/Bank 1 folder. I have raised this with Nord and await a reply.

Eric :thanks:

Well, I had now the time to check on Nord website and the NE6 backup is not a .zip but it is already a ne6b at download https://www.nordkeyboards.com/sites/def ... v2.0x.ne6b , so yo shouldn't need to unzip it (but it is good you did so you can see its content, anyway what you found is the general settings file which is only 1);

Question: have you the latest version of Nord Sound Manager? Is the downloaded file complete (1.59 GB)?

I downloaded it and works fine for me, I get a .ne6b with full content (as far as I can see, I own no NE6) ; are you using any downloader app/plugin? Try a different browser.

Hi maxpiano. Didn’t occur to me that a certain browser was the issue. :facepalm: :oops: Have tried a different browser and voila! one ne6b Factory Restore file.

Thanks for you input, appreciated. :thanks:

@ErictheViking It would be interesting to hear which browser gave you the non-functional zip-file, and which one had no issues..

Hi Arjan P.

Web browser I.E. 11 gave me problems but using Google Chrome didn’t. Whether it’s to do with my laptop and settings i’d be interested to know.

Thanks

Eric
