Re: Perceived change in piano sound since update
Has anyone returned to previous operating systems ....? With 1.60 how are you? ..... Given that ns 3 remains a good keyboard still I can not with the electric piano to be satisfied .... I'm trying the Mark v with 1.60 not equalized for accompaniment and for the only I cut medium to 533 - 5, 5 .. low - 5 ... high +2. Has anyone found other combinations? If one goes back to an old operating system must install factory presets? Because all those who had made me mark them version error .. Thanks 7

Re: Perceived change in piano sound since update
@leonardo1 - did you try the EP settings I posted in your “Piano rhodes wurly” thread? Again, I’m using reasonably accurate JBL 305 monitors at home and playing live with Westone AM Pro 30s and either house sound or hired pro sound for FOH. I am able to dial-in just about any sound I want from the EPs and APs. This is the base EP setting I use.
KBD TOUCH: 1
TREM: Rate=4.5, Amount=2.8
CHOR1: Rate=5.0, Amount=3.4
EQ: Treble=+5, Mid Freq=470Hz, Mid=-9.8, Bass=-5.0
REVERB: Room2, Amount=3.0

Sign me up for preferring the 1.60 versions: richer, more full-bodied and resonant. If I need something that cuts more, I'll add EQ.
I think I have gear issues ....

Good thing you haven't done it yet, because now you'd probably want to do it again!baekgaard wrote:It would, but it'll take me a some time to before I can find a slot to do itanotherscott wrote:It would be really interesting to see another run of baekgaard's velocty response test with the new OS ( see post99775.html?hilit=scaling#p99775 )
From the new 2.0 update:
"Soft setting for acoustic pianos has been changed. This is now not a filter but instead adjusts the response of the piano for a soft sound." - This sounds like an alternate velocity curve that may address what some people have been looking for?
and also of interest...
"The exact sample used for a given velocity in the piano engine was not always the intended one." - This could also relate to why people weren't always getting the velocity-to-sound correlation they expected.

Pianos is sounding more agressive and loud on 2.0 to my ears.

Re: Perceived change in piano sound since update
One strange (but in a good way) thing is that on the RHODES the release are totally back, but you have to turn the soft release OFF instead of ON. It's like the soft release act on the opposite way of "long release" found on NS2

Yes. 1.60 piano velocity response was better .aureliopenna wrote:Pianos is sounding more agressive and loud on 2.0 to my ears.

Re: Perceived change in piano sound since update
It's weird. The response of the electric pianos are very nice now, they are almost perfect for me. But the improvement of the response in case of uprights and grands ("Improvements to keyboard handling for increased evenness in touch" since 1.50) is totally disappeared. Hopefully it's a bug. I don't like the grand and upright piano response now.aureliopenna wrote:How about 2.02 what are you guys thoughts?
