How to send only sustain on/off MIDI signals?
Dear all,
I am not sure whether this question was posted before; I searched but could not find anything. Anyway, I would like to use my sustain pedal to trigger both my Nord Electro 5D and Yamaha Reface CP. I connected a MIDI cable from the NE5D OUT to the Reface IN. The sustain pedal triggers both keyboards, but I don't want the NE73D to send MIDI notes. Can I program my NE5D such that it only sends sustain on/off MIDI signals to my Yamaha Reface CP and no MIDI notes?
Thanks,
Matty

No, the only things the Nord lets you filter out are control changes and program changes, you can' filter out keys. There used to be a sustain pedal you could wire into two keyboards, but the company is gone. Easiest thing would be to put a pair of the simple square sustain pedals right next to each other (maybe velcro'd to a piece of plywood) so you could hit them both at the same time. (Also gives you the flexibility to hit just one.) A more expensive/complicated way would be to use something like a MIDI Solutions processor to filter what MIDI you want to pass or block between the two keyboards.

Re: How to send only sustain on/off MIDI signals?
Dear all,
Thanks for your useful responses. I already have a MIDI Solutions Thru box and I love their products. I sent them an email requesting whether they can make a MIDI Solutions box at reasonable cost that filters out all MIDI messages, except CC 64 for sustain on/off. I like the simplicity and elegance of a single sustain pedal controlling two keyboards.
Cheers,
Matty

The MIDI Solutions Router and Event Processors can probably do it.

Just ask your tech to build one for you, 50$, two inputs, e output n a little red box....I trigger both the NL2X and the D50 with one pedal only, on he right side but I also have another on the left side, when it's a sustained chords and when I still want to use my free foot for the stage 2...
Or I sustain both P08 & P12....Would you like me to take a picture of it and ask him the schematic?

Sustain Pedal Splitter Systems (http://store.rosensound.com/store/produ ... r-systems/) seems to offer a solution as well. Anybody tried this?
