Re: New Nord Electro 6
Greetings!
I am looking for a compact portable organ.
My current setup is usually a Roland RD-2000 and a Motif XF plus Spectrasonics Keyscape and Omnisphere II every now and then.
But I'm looking for better organ solutions as I also participating in more country, blues and rock bands that than before.
Never owned a Nord, but I am curios about the Electro 6D. Considering between the E6 and the Hammond XK-1c.
I read thru this trhead in the Nord Stage forum and the users are not happy with the organ on it compared to earlier models:
http://www.norduserforum.com/nord-stage ... 13996.html
Any of you know if the Electro 6 suffers the same issues? As I understand the organ section is the same C2D between the NS3 and E6?
Did see that the NS3 got a lot better on the organ after a 1.3x patch, but as the first joy among the users had settled it seems like it's not up to it's full potential after all.
The E4 and E5 sounds great on youtube, but not been able hear much from the E6 organs yet unfortunately. I am aware they just hit the shops.
And i am a bit confused about the Electro presets.
The Hammond boards have a lot of build in factory patches that can get you very quick near to a typical organ settings for a song you need on the fly.
How is this on an Electro? Does it have different B3 presets from factory or will you have to create these yourself?
I see Piano and Sample Library has patches, but the organs seems pretty empty

Re: New Nord Electro 6
NE6 is not yet available in the shops, however it is supposed to have the same organ engine of the NE5

Re: New Nord Electro 6
Nord updated the organ section of the NS3 n December. Since then, most people seem to be happy with it.Karbis wrote:Never owned a Nord, but I am curios about the Electro 6D. Considering between the E6 and the Hammond XK-1c.

The E6 s not available yet. As far as I know, Nord has not said that there will be any changes to the organ engine, but no one will know for sure until they exist. As we've seen with the NS3, sometimes people notice changes from previous models even if there's not necessarily an "official" difference.
Besides the E6 and XK1C, you might also want to look at the Mojo61, Viscount Legend Solo, and Numa Organ 2.

The E6 is shipping. At least one user on this forum has one already.

Re: New Nord Electro 6
The Electro 5 is a great solution if your focus is organs, AP and EP. Yes, it comes with many useful presets, but it's also easy to tweak on the fly. I'm completely happy with it.
Re: New Nord Electro 6
I have a RD 2000 also and looking for another keyboard with excellent organ sounds. I had a NE5D and the organ was good but sold it when they discontinued it and got what I paid for it. The HAMMOND XK1C IMHO has slightly better organ and keybed is much better. The Crumar Mojo organ is probably the best of all of these I mentioned IMHO. The advantage of the Nord is you get the other sounds and free sample library. Hard decision but since I have the RD 2000 not sure I wanna go the Nord route but it is really light. If I had the money I probably would go with the Crumar Mojo for organ but it has a Rhodes, Wurly, and an AP but the AP is ok but other sounds are spot on.
Good luck in your decision!

Re: New Nord Electro 6
The NE6 is currently available -ish, but with limited supply in my area.
Some shops claim to have it in stock and ready for delivery.
I live 15 minutes by car from the Swedish border, perhaps that’s why I start see them popping up where I am.
Know about the other brands mentioned here and I am a previous owner of the Hammond XK-3c.
Great organ, but it’s heavy and takes up volume and it was a complete overkill for the pop/hits cover-band I play in.
The RD-2000 alone is a potential backbreaker, heavy and monstrous so I need something lightweight this time.
I tend to prefer the Hammond XK-1c sound over the Nord myself in normal situations, but the guitar players, yes two of them, I am working with have no idea how volume knobs work, it goes straight to 10 and it frustrates me.
From what I have heard the Nord boards live, I get the impression they can be quite aggressive and cut thru basically any mix.
Thanks for the input on the Electro presets, CountFosco!
The XK-1c has main categories like: Jazz A, Jazz B, Gospel, Vintage, Rock and then some sub-presets under those.
Electros has something similar in the organ section?
From what I see, the Electro has one Hammond B3 mode patch and I will have to work my way from there, potential time consuming task building up a setlist.

Another good source... http://www.dairiki.org/HammondWiki/DrawbarRegistrations
Note the "StandardPresets" link tells you what the stock presets were on a real B3, and lots of people used those sounds. The "Jazz" and "Popular" links offer others of interest.

Thanks for the links, guys.
Just ordered the Electro 6D and the half moon switch and it's on it's way already.
