Electro 4 HP not playing stereo piano
Hi. I am very new to NORD. I just bought an Electro 4 HP and the pianos are not playing in stereo. I have my studio monitors connected the same way as with my previous keyboard which worked fine. I have been instructed to make sure the MONO light is off. It is off. The 4 HP was a DEMO unit. could it be that the samples themselves are MONO? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tim

Re: Electro 4 HP not playing stereo piano
It sounds like you tried all the Output Routing path control options under the System Menu already...
I encountered problems (Mono-only output) when I accidentally used a Balanced (Tip-Ring-Sleeve) 1/4" plugs in one of my output jacks (It didn't matter which) on my 3HP. The Nord uses unbalanced jack-connectors and the inserting a balanced plug causes a short circuit between the Left and Right channels giving a mono output.
The factory piano samples were stereo for my 3HP, so I'd be surprised a demo model would use mono. Check the headphone output and see.
Good luck. Let us know if you figure out what caused the problem.

Re: Electro 4 HP not playing stereo piano
The samples are not mono in the piano section, and as those samples aren't DIY accessible, mono samples couldn't have been loaded in. But if pterm's tip on balanced plugs don't work for you, check all the menu settings again, a demo model has likely had lots of playing about with.

Re: Electro 4 HP not playing stereo piano
A very simple test would be to apply a panning effect on it. That surely creates unique left and right audo..

How is that "same way" connected?bedbug2020 wrote:I have my studio monitors connected the same way as with my previous keyboard which worked fine.
At least in the NS2, I can get stereo sound by setting out 1 connected to one output (L) and out 2 to the other (R or viceversa), AND in system settings set which outputs you are using (1&2) AND the 2 channels panned in opposite directions in the mixer (if you are using one).
Sorry I do not know the electro but I would be surprised if that is different.

Re: Electro 4 HP not playing stereo piano
Mr_-G- connected straight to studio monitors 1 from the left output and one from the right.
Trying the panning effect worked very well. I think the stereo is working correctly. the casio privia PX-3S had a much more defined stereo effect. The NORD is just subtler I guess...so I think everything is working correctly now. Thank you all so so much!

Review the manual at pages 13 and 17. Output can be changed from stereo to mono and back again. Enjoy.
