Nord Stage 2 EX installation version 1.72

I installed version 3.00 on my Nord Stage 2 EX but the sounds it had stopped sounding as good.

Yesterday I installed version 1.72 again and the keyboard does not respond, the computer does not detect it and only the screen with the text of "OS v1.72" lights up

I want to put the OS v.3.00 back but when I connect the piano to the pc / mac it does not detect it and it does not let me update.

I need a solution soon as I have concerts in August.

Hi and welcome to the forum,

please try the troubleshooting hints in the update instructions, especially the last part:

TROUBLESHOOTING
- Make sure that the Nord Sound Manager (or any other application that might communicate with the Nord instrument via USB) is not running on the computer at the same time as the Update Utility.
- Make sure that the Nord is powered on.
- Make sure that you are using the correct Update Utility. The Nord Stage EX and the Nord Stage Classic for example are two different models, with different Update Utilities.
- Make sure that the USB cable is connected.
- Make sure that the USB driver is installed (Windows only).
- If you still don’t get a connection, try to disconnect and reconnect the USB cable.
- If you still have a problem, try a different and perhaps shorter USB cable.

In the rare cases where the operating system in the Nord instrument have become damaged and the unit does not start properly, the Update Utility will be unable connect to the unit. If this is the case, start up the Nord while simultaneously holding down the Shift and Store buttons on the panel. This will start the unit in the Update mode, which makes it possible for the Update Utility to access and update the operating system in a Nord that does not start properly.

Hmm - if none of all these steps work, especially the one from the last section I posted, them you may have a hardware failure for which the only option is to send it to a Nord service provider I’m afraid

this doesn‘t sound optimal and I wish you, geryy, that we can help you sort this out until your concert. One point which took me by surprise is the version 1.72 you mention. Nord‘s website starts at 2.06 for this instrument - look here:

Are you sure it was this before you started the process? What if you try another version of the update history list?

Bert is right, didn’t noticed that - there was a v1.72 release for the Nord Stage 2 (without EX), but this should not be able to be installed on a Stage 2 EX.... are you using a Stage 2?

If you installed 1.72 (from 2013) you tried installing a version capable for Nord Stage 2 and not the EX version. Try with version 2.06 or higher for Nord Stage 2 EX as suggested.
