Using Stage 88 instead of my electro 3

Post by jamieallen »

I use a Electro 3 when playing shows in the UK but have shows in Australia booked in Feb and am being provided with a Stage 88. Am I gonna be able to install my backup onto this or am I just gonna have to send hours building the sounds again?! May sound like an obvious question but I'm new to this so any help is appreciated.thanks

Hi jamieallen & welcome to the forum!
Will it be a NS2 or NS Classic/EX?
Unfortunately, the patch formats are not compatible between the different instruments. So in principle you will have to reprogram your sounds.
If you use a lot of samples, you can at least (given they provide you with a Nord Stage 2) take with you your used samples.
But the patches you will still have to program them. So I would probably just handish take notes of the basic characteristics, instruments, FX, drawbars etc. of your sounds and take some time to program them more or less similar on the Stage. I am sorry but I fear there is no other solution.
Cheers
Johannes

Remember that if you don't get a Stage 2, you'll only have equivalents of the E3's piano and organ functions, you will not have access to any of the E3's non-piano/organ sounds, since the older Stage models did not support a non-piano sample library. Piano and organ sounds should be easy to approximately recreate in any of the models, though.

If you do get a Stage 2, you will have access to the sample library sounds, though they are handled differently... they are accessed and controlled via the synth section, rather than the piano section as is done on the E3. This actually gives you much more flexibility. The E3 implementation is much more limited in terms of what you can do with the sounds, but of course the E3 doesn't have any synth section in the first place, so there was no other option.
