That’s the first step. Next, you have to create a program on the Nord that actually *uses* it.

Hi - thanks a lot for the recommendation! So I was able to figure out how to transfer the Sample over and associate a blank Program with it. But it sounds nothing like the MP3 sample on the site. I presume, this is because I haven't turned the knobs yet!! :-)

I haven't added any effects or any other parameters and I'm guessing this is why it sounds so dry ...

Any recommendation on what I need to do next in order to make it sound more like Van Halen :-)

Hi crazydeep, I made a quick video to show how to get the sound more like the original. Check it out here, I demo it at the end (always fun)!

These are the settings you need after you have the sample loaded in :

SAMPLE SYNTH ATTACK 0.5
SAMPLE SYNTH SUSTAIN 0 (CENTRE)
SA,PLE DYNAMICS 1
DRIVE 1.0
DRIVE SELECT SWITCH (NO LIGHTS ON)
DELAY PING PONG (ON)
DELAY FEEDBACK 1
TEMPO 227MS
WET DRY 4.0
REVERB HALL
DRY WET 4.1
GAIN LEVEL 10.0 (WHATEVER SUITS YOU)
OCTAVE -1

Enjoy!

Hi. I'm new to Nord. How do I get your Jump motif sound on to my NE6D?
I have the Nord connected to the sound manager on my computer but don't know what to do.
Thanks.

Hi and welcome to NUF :D

You have to download the .nsmp file from this thread first, then connect your Electro to the computer and use Nord Sound Manager to load the sample into your Electro. If there is not enough free space available you have to delete some of the existing samples on the Electro, Sound Manager will tell you which of them are unused.

You will also find the information in the manual I guess.

Thanks Schorsch.
How exactly do I download the .nsmp file from this thread? I couldn't find anything in the manual (maybe I was looking in the wrong place). When I do a window pops up and says "Nord Sound Manager is already running".

Help!!

I guess there is a confusion with the "download" term here. Actually nord uses the this term to describe the procedure of transfering a sample or program from the computer to the instrument, that's what the download button on the software interface does. In the same concept the "upload" button transfers a sound from the instrument to the pc. What you got to do is click on the nsmp. attachment of this post, select a folder in your pc to save it and then go to the nord sound manager, connect your instrument, free some space in the sample memory if necessary and then click on the download button, then you browse the specific folder and select the nsmp file you have previously saved. Once it's on your instrument you just select this sample to create a program. That's it.

You go to the first post and just klick on the sample “Motif Jump.nsmp” in the attachments - you can also use this link: download/file.php?id=8248

Then save the file to your computer, connect your Nord to the PC, start Nord Sound Manager, Drag-and-drop the file into the Sound manager window or use the sound download button in sound manager and it will be transferred to your instrument.

It’s well explained in the manual of the sound manager, did you took a look there?

P.S.: crossed post with Alex who was a bit quicker :D

I wonder if it will be easy to play the solo part with the piano action keys, it would be easier with a synth or a semi-weighted keybed...
give it a try and let us know.
